'Zombieland 3' Is In Talks And Writers Reveal The Perfect Location For Third Film

Even Emma Stone is on board for a third movie and says she want a new Zombieland movie to come out every ten years.

It took an entire decade to make Zombieland: Double Tap after the release of Zombieland and since then, there have been continuous rumors about the franchise and its future. The writers of the movie, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, have insisted for a pretty long time that they have quite a few stories to tell their fans. A pilot episode for a Zombieland television series was even shot, but Amazon decided to drop the series. But now that the sequel has released, the primary question looming on the mind of every fan is what is going to be the future of this franchise? Is there going to be a Zombieland 3? If they do release the third movie, do we have to wait for another 10 years again?

Last year, in an exclusive interview with The Wrap, Wernick said, "We were in Atlanta shooting and it was cold and Woody [Harrelson] was like, we should do the next one on an island. Everyone was like, I love that idea. Standing in the cold in the middle of the night, somehow, island life sounded much better. But I was like, creatively, that’s not the best choice, but as of right now, that sounds like a pretty great idea.”

Reese added to this, saying, "I think I got it: I think the cure to the zombie illness has to be Fiji water, so they have to go to Fiji!" Adding to this thought, Wernick said, "Fiji Water’s Zombieland 3’ is what we should call it. Get some good product placement, get some free water for all of us. I’m already liking the way it’s shaping up.” Previously, Wernick had also mentioned that Harrelson wanted to do 10 Zombieland movies if it's possible.

Wernick added, "I don’t know if 10 is in the cards, but maybe one. We’re not thinking about it though, we’re just bracing ourselves for this weekend and keeping our fingers and toes crossed that it does well.” Even though Emma Stone didn't say she is up for a 10-movie deal, she definitely hopes for a third movie, but that they do one every ten years. In an interview with Metro, director Ruben Fleischer revealed, "Emma pitched the idea of doing one every ten years. I thought that was a pretty cool idea.”

He continued, "Hypothetically we would all be thrilled. But, as was the case with this one, it depends on figuring out a story worth telling and having a script that we all feel can be good. It would also depend on how this movie is received and if there is even a desire for another film.” There is no doubt that Zombieland: Double Tap has laid the groundwork for the franchise to continue, even though the undead have evolved in the sequel. Reese explained, saying, "It all depends on where they were in the country when the outbreak occurred. The conditions they’ve been living in, what they’ve been eating. They’re either dumber, smarter, tougher, faster, or slower.”

In Zombieland: Double Tap, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone reprised their roles from the original movie, along with some new faces like Thomas Middleditch, Zoey Deutch, Rosario Dawson, Avan Jogia and Luke Wilson. What do you think? Are we getting Zombieland 3 anytime soon or do we need to wait for another decade to see our favorite band of refugees fighting off and outsmarting the undead again?
