It's Official: 'You' Season 3 Is Coming To Netflix And Production Has Already Begun

Sera Gamble, the creator of the hit Netflix thriller drama, confirmed that the highly anticipated third season of YOU has already begun production.

Penn Badgley, who played the creepy Joe Goldberg, enthralled fans with his performance in the second season of You. Because of its popularity, the show was soon renewed for a third season and now, the fans are dying to know when they will get to see the third season. As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Sera Gamble teased the fans about the third season with a fun photo shared on Twitter last Friday.

She wrote, "We’ve started work on season 3. Just thought you’d want to know.” The show was renewed for a third season in January this year, only two weeks after the second season premiered. The first and the second season were based on the books 'YOU' and 'Hidden Bodies' by Caroline Kepnes. The show follows the story of romantic/stalker/murderer Joe Goldberg and what happens when his love life takes a dark turn. The first season of the show originally premiered on Lifetime before moving to Netflix.

It seems like a very good decision by the streaming giant that the show was renewed for a third season as the finale of the second season left a lot of questions unanswered. Season 3 will likely have 10 episodes, similar to season 1 and 2. *SPOILER ALERT* It was confirmed by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti that both Penn Badgley and  Victoria Pedretti will reprise their role as Joe and Love, who are also soon-to-be parents. Kepnes is finishing her third book and it is not yet known how much the third season will be based on the books since the show has already made a lot of changes to the story.

The renewal of the third season was in the news for a while and last year, Gamble said that it depends on how the second season of the show is received by the viewers. In a conversation with Cosmopolitan, Gamble said, "Absolutely it could come back for season three. First of all, it's up to the powers that be. We hope that a lot of people will watch the show and that it gets to continue. I will say that we have an idea for season three that is SO exciting that people talk about it in the [writer's] room every day. So my fingers are crossed... I'll just say, I hope we get the chance to keep making the show."

Series star Penn Badgley has also teased some details about the third season. Last year, in a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Badgley let slip some possibility of a female killer being introduced in the series. He said, "She doesn't appear to be the same kind of person. She doesn't appear to be the same kind of predator. She doesn't appear to be the same kind of... you know, dare I say, in the third season - oh, God!" After realizing his mistake, the actor slapped his head, but, by then, reporters had already started pressing him about the possibility of a third season.

The second season of You is available on Netflix and the third season is reportedly coming in 2021.
