The store will house the largest collection of 'Harry Potter' and 'Fantastic Beasts' products in the world.
Muggles, hold onto your hats! Warner Bros has just announced that they will be opening a Harry Potter-themed store, the largest in the world, in New York City in the summer of 2020. It'll be the largest dedicated Harry Potter store in the world. The store will be housed in a three-story building spread across 20,000 square-feet at 935 Broadway, adjacent to the historic Flatiron building. Warner Bros stated that "the store will house the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts products in the world under one roof."
Apart from the popular products available at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and Orlando, the New York store will feature unique products as well. Harry Potter fans will feature everything from personalized robes and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans to a brand-new range of house wands with a design exclusive to the New York location. “This will be the largest dedicated Harry Potter store in the world and will become a must-visit fan destination where Harry Potter enthusiasts can engage with interactive experiences and numerous photo opportunities as they step into the magic,” said Warner Bros.’ Senior Vice President of Worldwide Tours and Retail, Sarah Roots.
Roots also cited New York as the perfect location for the world's largest Harry Potter-themed store. "We are very excited to be opening in New York. It's the ideal city in which to launch with so many dedicated Wizarding World fans, a cutting-edge retail environment and a community that embraces innovative experiences." The Harry Potter universe has grown exponentially since J.K. Rowling released the series' first book, Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone in 1997. Apart from the seven books and the 8 movies produced by Warner Bros, J.K. Rowling has also written a stage play based on Harry Potter.
JKR also wrote a Fantastic Beasts five-film series, a prequel to the Harry Potter series, which is under production now. Two movies from the Fantastic Beasts series have been released — Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Recently, BBC struck a deal with Warner Bros to produce a show that analyzes the origins of creatures, both mythical and real, from Rowling's Fantastic Beasts series.
"For today's growing worldwide fan community, and for generations to come, the Wizarding World welcomes everyone to explore more of this magical universe — past, present and future. The Wizarding World also provides fans with an instant, trusted kite-mark of quality and authenticity. Harry Potter New York will be part of an expanding portfolio of Warner Bros. owned Wizarding World experiences that include Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter and Platform 9 ¾ retail shops." read a statement by Warner Bros. The company also released mock images of the three-storeyed building that's set to come up in New York.
