Winchester Mystery House To Launch 'Unhinged' An Immersive Horror Experience This Halloween Season

From Friday, September 6th to November 2nd, you can step into a real-life paranormal thriller and explore the dark hallways of the cursed Winchester Estate

The Winchester Mystery House is a mansion and local haunt in San Jose, California, that was once the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of firearm magnate William Wirt Winchester.

Sarah was convinced that the spirits of all those killed with her gun were haunting her. So she moved from New Haven, Connecticut to San Jose to construct her dream home. To confuse the restless spirits, she constructed one of the most unique (odd rather?) houses ever built and kept the construction in operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year until the day of her death.

The Mystery House has now just announced an all-new immersive horror experience called 'Unhinged' starting Friday, September 6th all the way through November 2nd. If you're gonna make any changes to your Halloween Night plans, this is the time to do it!

Their official website announces it as "a real psychological and paranormal thriller where you can explore the dark hallways of the cursed Winchester estate". The experience is an attempt for individuals to solve the secret mysteries and unexplained disappearances that have been accounted for by people who last visited the place. You don't wanna miss this intriguing attraction when in town!

So if you by chance muster the minerals to go and check it out for yourself, be prepared to trespass into forbidden rooms in the mansion that have never been opened for public tours before. There you may have to confront malicious spirits and witness the most terrifying scenes that will reveal the dark and twisted secrets of the haunted house. It's gonna be a psychological mind-bending experience of the likes of which you've never seen before!

Haven't most of us been on similar "interactive horror" experiences at amusement parks and malls before? Well, what makes Unhinge at Winchester so electrifying is the spooky history and jawdropping architecture of the mansion itself. The Victorian-style labyrinth that was built features incredibly designed doors on multiple floors that opens into thin air, and others that open onto walls and stairs and corridors that lead to several dead ends. It's an adventure alright!

Now, taking a closer look behind the daunting history of the house, past records and the general public opinion is of the notion that, since its construction in 1884, the property and mansion were claimed by many to be haunted by the ghosts of those killed with Winchester rifles. Maybe one of your grandparents may know something about it. Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around the clock, by some accounts, without interruption, until Sarah's death on September 5, 1922, at which time work immediately ceased.

Sarah Winchester's biographer, however, said that Winchester "routinely dismissed workers for months at a time 'to take such rest as I might'" and notes that "this flies in the face of claims by today's Mystery House proprietors that work at the ranch was ceaseless for thirty-eight years."

So until recently, the public hasn’t seen some of the secret and more paranormal type of rooms. It features 160 rooms and only 110 can be explored. According to a representative of the establishment, “The Winchester Mystery House has had no past or future plans to allow guests to stay overnight at the estate.”  But now, with Unhinged, here's your chance to experience an immersive thriller filled with psychological and paranormal scenarios.
