It's Showtime: A Tim Burton-Themed Fest Is Happening This Month And You Can't Miss It

Celebrate Tim Burton, his movies and oddball characters at the festival before rounding it off with a screening of Beetlejuice.

It's showtime! If you're looking for a Burton-esque way to round off a perfect weekend, look no further than Burton and Booooze, a Burtonesque Market Day. The market will be a celebration of filmmaker Tim Burton and will also feature a screening of his fantasy horror comedy, Beetlejuice.

It's one film that encapsulates all the classic elements that make Tim Burton a master storyteller. If you haven't already watched or want to revisit to fantasy comedy-horror classic, drop everything and rush to Houston on November 17, Sunday to catch the film starring Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, and Michael Keaton among other big names at the Burton and Booooze, a Burtonesque Market Day. As reported by Narcity.

As with every Tim Burton movie screening, there's a lot more to the festival than just the screening. The Burton-esque market will open at 12 pm and feature merchandise from Tim Burton movies, Burton-inspired quirky items from local vendors and artists.

One of the highlights of the market will be the special edition Burton glassware designed by Blue One Thirty as a part of the market's Artist series. You wouldn't want to miss out on that. The organizers have also encouraged Burton fans to turn up in costumes from his movies.

And let's be fair, no director's filmography has more quirky, dark and macabre characters for a costume party like Tim Burton has. So don't hold back on that creativity and bring out the Burton in you. Not to mention, the best costumes from Tim Burton movies, or inspired by his work and genre will be given cool prizes.

The screening of Beetlejuice will follow the Burtonesque market at 6 pm running up to 8 pm. In many ways, Beetlejuice was the film that established Tim Burton as a director, a rather unconventional one though.

Hollywood made a little extra space to accommodate the quirky Burton. It also landed him the opportunity to direct Batman starring Michael Keaton with Jack Nicholson playing the joker.

The film would throw Winona Ryder into the Hollywood spotlight after her role as Lydia Deetz in the Beetlejuice. But Winona Ryder got bullied at school after her performance in the movie.

“I remember thinking, ‘Ooh, it’s, like, the number-one movie. This is going to make things great at school. But it made things worse. They called me a witch,” said Winona Ryder, according to Time.

The movie is also heavily inspired by and a homage to the B movies Tim Burton grew up watching. "I wanted to make them look cheap and purposely fake-looking," said of the film.

If you aren't in Houston, don't worry, there are plenty of Burton inspired events, festivals, and screenings in and around Texas like The Nightmare Before Christmas Gothic Ball and Bazaar in Austin. So get planning on your costume and we'll see you there!
