This recording either says "Brainstorm" or "Green Needle" depending on which you're thinking about and it's super freaky.
Alright, to start things up we would like to refresh your memory to the whole "Is the dress Blue or Gold". Remember that internet sensation from 2015 where half the people thought a dress was one color when the other half thought it was something else. People believed there was something freaky going on, and who can blame them. In fact, it was such a startling illusion that members of the scientific community began to investigate the photo for fresh insights into human color vision.
That had to do with vision, now we have something that has tested our aural senses to the core. We were so surprised by this new recording that is going viral on social media and we want you to check it out for yourselves. We leave nothing up for false judgment and would like you to listen to the recording and come to your own conclusions. As far as we can tell, and from what everyone has been talking about, the voice is either saying "brainstorm" or "green needle", Telegraph reported. As strange as it sounds, we heard them both for ourselves after listening to it multiple times.
It's frankly bizarre and quite astonishing that the word you hear actually changes based on what you are thinking in your mind. If you are looking to hear the 'green needle' chances are that's what you'll hear, but if you keep listening to it with "brainstorm" in mind, you will actually tell yourself "hey I can hear that too". This is even crazier than those visual illusions, as with those, people usually just saw one of the two choices and not both depending on what they thought of. But with this recording, people who focus on one of the two words actually hear the one on their minds.
The original, by the way, was spotted by Reddit user u/squidjeep - found this out via Huffington Post. Thank you for sourcing the clip and all credit to squidjeep for the original!— George Aylett (@GeorgeAylett) May 17, 2018
According to TheLab, the video was originally recorded as part of a review on YouTube for a Ben 10 Alien Force Ultimate Omnitrix toy by DosmRider. For the record, the toy itself was supposed to be saying "Brainstorm" but somehow the manner in which the voice pronounces it sounds like "green needle" too. Let's face it, there's not a lot of similarity between the words storm and needle if you pronounce them separately, but brain and green, now you have something. And if something like this has half of Twitter in a frenzy, then you know something's up. The video's creator too expressed his own confusion on the platform about the whole phenomenon.
Think the Laurel or Yanny thing is weird?— George Aylett (@GeorgeAylett) May 17, 2018
You can hear the words ‘Brainstorm’ or ‘Green Needle’ based on which word you think about. Try it.pic.twitter.com/7TrS9XNhNR
Okay, we are going to try it out yet again and this time it's gonna be a conclusive one. You can join us as we give it another shot. First, we play the recording and then think of the phrase "green needle" in our heads. And then, we are going to play the exact same recording while thinking of the word "brainstorm". We might give each option a few chances to let the sound really sink in. And after we've done them both, we want to listen to it yet again but this time we are not going to think of either and instead let the voice choose for us.
