'The Walking Dead' Movie Is Officially Happening And Rick Grimes Is Ready To Kill

A new teaser trailer has been released and the upcoming movie “will explore the story of where Rick is taken and what he faces in a new corner of the zombie apocalypse.”

Could Rick Grimes make a comeback? Well, even as fans seem to miss the iconic character from The Walking Dead TV series, you will now be able to watch your favorite Zombie slayer in an all-new feature film completely based on Rick Grimes.

And if you hear closely, you can hear all the zombies crying in vain as the iconic character played by Andrew Lincoln returns for the movie that was earlier mentioned to "explore the story of where Rick is taken and what he faces in a new corner of the zombie apocalypse.” As reported by Buzzfeed News.

*Spoilers* Ever since Grimes exited the show, fans have believed that he might return considering how he and his son, Carl, have been both alive in the comics for a long time. And looks like they weren't wrong as the iconic character will now return to The Walking Dead Universe.

Ever since Lincoln’s final episode of The Walking Dead was aired, AMC had teased fans about his return in a “series” of movies written by longtime TWD executive producer Scott M. Gimple. He is also the “chief content officer for The Walking Dead universe.”

Although it was initially expected that Grimes’ TWD film would air on AMC, it is now said that the movie will release only in the theatres. The details of the upcoming movie were confirmed after a new teaser trailer was released for The Walking Dead movie at San Diego Comic-Con during The Walking Dead panel.

Universal Studios will be helming the project and hence if the movie does manage to rake in the moolah at the box office, then there is no doubt that sequels will inevitably follow — especially considering how Universal has been seeking out hit live-action franchises beyond Jurassic World and Fast and Furious films.

Speaking of the television series, fans were not too happy with Lincoln’s exit and it was indeed a major blow for “The Walking Dead,” considering how the ratings had dropped drastically in the last couple of seasons.

And now with Danai Gurira confirming her exit from the series in Season 10 as well, it will be interesting to see how the story pans out. At present, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride are among the longest-serving cast members on the popular zombie series.

"Maybe this shows him going to the Commonwealth where Maggie is at and they both train the Commonwealth to help their group to attack The Whisperers!" a Twitter user speculated.  A third said: "Major characters are leaving and viewership is down but reward loyal watchers by making it a theatre only presentation. Check."
