Which was the scariest scene, according to you?
If you still feel traumatized after watching The Haunting of Bly Manor, then you are not alone. Mike Flanagan's gothic show follows the purgatorial haunted murder house concept that was first shown in The Haunting of Hill House. Similar to the deluded and vicious spirit of the family matriarch Olivia Crain in Hill House, Bly Manor is also plagued by the presence of Lady Viola Lloyd. Taking the 80s setting and the few cast members from The Haunting of Hill House, Flanagan unfolds another beautiful tragedy with outstanding attention to detail and characters which are much more focused on a haunted house. Honestly, it is perfect for Halloween viewing.
WOW... Like seriously, the Haunting of Bly Manor episode 5 is-- mindblown— Susenthiran Palani🕊️ (@suezeus99) October 9, 2020
The way they conflate Alzheimer's disease and the story of Hannah Grose, with all of the scary stuffs
I'm not regretting this 🕊️✨
The pieces don't come together as neatly as we saw in The Haunting of Hill House, still, Flanagan has brilliantly unlocked new doors for the Haunting universe. It is a story about a found family and doomed love, and it is absolutely mesmerizing as it makes you think about how to live after grief and loss. Having said that, the new nine-episode installment of the horror anthology was scary enough to make the fans cover all their mirrors in the home from fear.
Just finished the haunting of bly manor, it might not be that scary but damn it the story is so beautiful and powerful. And the ending is just perfectly splendid 🥺. 10/10 recommended— Laksh Jain || DHONI STAN ACCOUNT (@chotudocutting) October 11, 2020
After binge-watching the show on October 9, a lot of people took to Twitter to reveal that they are still recovering from the scary scenes of the show. The new installment follows the story of an American au-pair who comes to England to take up a job as a governess in the titular manor but soon starts being haunted by the things she has never really encountered before. If you have binge-watched the show as I did, then you will know that while the second installment is not so scary in terms of jump scares, but that doesn't mean people were not terrified.
Okay so The Haunting of Bly Manor was amazing! I loved it. It wasn’t as scary and intense as Hill House, and it’s hard to even compare them because they are so different. But it was beautifully done and didn’t disappoint. Even shed a tear at the end. Worth the watch!— Jessii Vee 🎃 (@JessiiVee) October 12, 2020
One person wrote, "Am I spiritually cleansing the mirror at 4 in the morning? Yes. Is it because of the Haunting of Bly Manor? Absolutely." Many others also believed that the sound of a door creaking is a sign of paranormal activity.
still recovering from the last episode of bly manor, how am I suppose to sleep tonight when I can’t stop crying about dani, jamie and hannah— k (@goslingsoul) October 12, 2020
In an interview with Vanity Fair in August, Flanagan said, "It certainly provides a new way to tell a love story, and there are three of them that really beat at the heart of this season. They all have a very dark edge to them. And by the end, it's really hard to differentiate tragedy from romance. That sense of romantic longing for someone who meant so much to us—but who's gone—really is the heart of any ghost story."
