'I want to see your manager!'
Before we learned the name of a woman who called the police on a Black man in Central Park on May 25, the internet started calling her Karen. Days later, another woman went viral for leaning on a car to stop the driver from choosing their desired parking spot. You ask why? Because she is a Karen. Since then, we have been treated to a lot of viral videos where women are being called Karens. Some of the examples include the likes of Coughing Karen, a woman who coughed on patrons inside a New York City Bagel shop, and another woman who called the police on a man for writing "Black Lives Matter" with chalk on his own property.
The Urban Dictionary describes Karen as, "The stereotypical name associated with rude, obnoxious, and insufferable middle-aged white women. Karens have developed their own unique characteristics/antics as well including reveling in making the life or retail workers a living hell by constantly making a scene over nothing and demanding to 'speak to the manager' (a near-universal battle cry among Karens)."
The Karen meme has become so well known that it has now become a popular Halloween costume. Before Karen became popular, the "speak to the manager" haircut became its own meme. Now, we have our very own Karen Halloween mask and yes, it is as terrifying as it sounds. The mask, created by Jason Adcock is so realistic that managers would be cowering in fear. It is truly the stuff of nightmares.
There are actually two variants of the mask. The first one is your regular Karen and the caption for this reads, "It’s never too early to shop for #Halloween #costumes . 2020 is the year of the KAREN! Scare all ur friends with ur big hair and narrow mind." The second Karen is a much more terrifying one with pus and boils covering her entire face. The caption reads, "I have taste, but I never said it was good taste ... our newest action is KAREN-19 she thought she was slick calling you all sheep and look at what happened !"
Both Karen masks feature the stereotypical blond bowl haircut with bangs and an angry face that will keep any trick-or-treaters running away from your front door. People seem to have agreed to it. One person wrote, "Terrifyingly accurate😂 I know her. Too many times.✌." A second one added, "The intensity and hair are just amazing!!" A third one asked how can they order one.
