The First Trailer For 'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 4 Is Here And It Looks Intense

'Blessed be the squad.'

Waiting for the new season of a series that we are really into is one of the hardest things to do. Many would remember this feeling when Game of Thrones decided to skip a year in 2018 and release their final season after a break. That really annoyed a lot of people but they were also filled with great expectations for the finale. And now, after a long wait, the trailer for Season 4 of The Handmaid's Tale has finally arrived and it's truly mindblowing, Entertainment Weekly reports.

There is still a bit to wait before we can binge-watch the entire season to our heart's content, of course. Still, it was nice to see that Hulu just released the first trailer to keep us at the edge of our seats. Naturally, there is a lot one can deduce from the trailer itself and longtime fans of the show will have a lot of questions to ask. The most key developments that have had us wondering since we last paid a visit to Gilead is when the dystopian drama will return, and June's fate in it. And don't read ahead if you haven't seen the trailer yet because you know... spoilers.

The trailer begins by revisiting June (Elisabeth Moss) from the last time we saw and left her. She was bloody and being carried out of the forest after having been shot while sneaking Gilead's children onto a plane headed for Canada. Just as June's eyes begin to open, there are scenes and dialogues from the upcoming season that start to fill in. We don't know about you, but we are pretty sure that means June is going to be alive and well. “I can’t rest,” June says. “My daughter deserves better. We all deserve better. Change never comes easy. This war isn’t going to win itself.”. According to SBS, this also means that she isn't going to take the backseat and call it a day as June is going to be much better once she's back in her element.

As things really start to escalate after that we find a real rebellion is at stake here. So there are definitely going to be tons of casualties in the upcoming season. “It isn’t safe anywhere,” says Martha. However, there is something special about season 4 that makes it stand apart. The element of hope is profound in the trailer and is best exemplified by June saying "these women deserve to be helped, but I can’t do this alone,” suggesting it’s time to “unite and fight.” That being said, it's not in Gilead's nature to go down without a fight. Meanwhile, Aunty Lydia, who has on her hands enough lives to survive just about anything says “She is out there planning who knows what kind of atrocities to visit upon our righteous nation. I never allowed myself to see her for what she really is: beyond redemption.”

June will not be alone in this fight though as we get to see Nick as well as Commander Lawrence (played by Bradley Whitford) returning to play a larger role this season. “What happens in the next few weeks will determine the fate of this country,” the Commander says, with June promising, “We’re just getting started.” A key aspect of the trailer is the new mantra that is revealed. This is surely going to launch hundreds of thousands of t-shirt designs and memes shortly: 'Blessed be the squad. Blessed be the motherf*&^ing squad, y’all.' Well, if you are pretty psyched about the upcoming season like us, we're sorry to disappoint you in saying that Season 4 won't hit Hulu until 2021, but in the meantime enjoy the full trailer below.
