One clip features Bingo, Fleegle, Snorky, and Drooper line up for a tune-up from Crazy Karl after nearly hitting a fan on their ride, the Banana Buggy.
Creepy meeting kids is a strategy that has never failed the horror genre and it doesn't get better than the upcoming The Banana Splits Movie. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has taken the cult-favorite animal rock-band from Hanna-Barbera’s 1968 The Banana Splits Adventure Hour variety program and added a healthy dose of bloodshed and a rising pile of bodies to it.
What could possibly go wrong? While the trailer left the hair on our arms standing up, some new clips recently released by the studio have left us positively quivering with excitement.

The Banana Splits Movie takes an eerie take on the classic characters Bingo, Fleegle, Snorky, and Drooper. According to a report by Comic Book, the press release said, "'The Banana Splits Movie' will offer a new take on the classic characters. The film follows a boy named Harley and his family as they go to a taping of 'The Banana Splits' TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley. But things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom, and their new pals safely escape?"
In a statement about the original feature-length film, Mary Ellen Thomas, WBHE, Vice President, TV Marketing, Family & Animation, said, "Get nostalgic and horrified all at the same time while watching the trippy 60’s characters in this all-new tale about fear, power, and an oversized puppet rock-band. 'The Banana Splits Movie' is a throwback to a fanatical children’s series with a horror-genre twist — and we can’t wait for the band to get back together for a new generation of fans!"
While the filmmakers have made big promises about the horror potential of the film, a clip released by Bloody Disgusting gave us an actual taste of what's to come. The 39-second footage shows Bingo, Fleegle, Snorky, and Drooper meeting crazy Karl after they almost hit a fan on their ride, the Banana Buggy. Crazy Karl lives up to his name and delivers on the creepy factor as he takes Drooper for a tune-up before the live taping of the show begins. Watch here:
Meanwhile, a longer clip released on Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's YouTube channel appears to show the root of all the trouble. The over 1-minute-long footage finds stage manager Rebecca (portrayed by Sarah Canning) finding out from studio executive Andy (played by Daniel Fox) that he was canceling the show.
The news comes as a huge blow to Rebecca who turns around to notice Drooper standing in the background, seemingly eavesdropping on the conversation. Watch:
The original feature-length film is due for release on Digital on August 13 and Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on August 27. Produced by Blue Ribbon Content in association with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and SYFY, The Banana Splits Movie will make its broadcast debut on SYFY this October.
