The show star Joe Keery gave fans some insight into what we can expect from season 4.
Even though the production of Stranger Things was halted because of the Coronavirus pandemic, we still have a brand new season to look forward to. While the plot details of the fourth season are being tightly kept under the wraps, show star Joe Keery is giving fans some insight into what people can expect from the upcoming season. Stranger Things always managed to keep us entertained and spooked while we binge-watched through the earlier seasons and now, the upcoming season is said to take it to the next level.
In an interview with Total Magazine, show star Joe Keery revealed, "Oh man, it's pretty amazing – the Duffer brothers have really done it again. I think that this year – and I know I say this every single year – but this is definitely going to be a lot scarier than prior years because last year was pretty dark." Even David Harbour dropped some huge hints about season 4 when he appeared at Liverpool Comic-Con.
The actor spoke about an episode from season 2 where Hopper's adopted daughter Eleven found boxes named 'New York' and 'Vietnam' suggesting, "There are these three things that we've established in the season that if we don't pay off, it means that they're bad writers. And the Duffer brothers are very good writers. So I know specifically that in Season 4 we will give you a big, huge reveal about Hopper's backstory."
Keery stars as the heartthrob Steve Harrington on the show and he had told fans he will be sporting an entirely new look for the fourth season. He said, "I know that costume served its purpose and I'm glad to retire it. Do I have it at home for Halloween? I don't, unfortunately. They won't let me have that one. One day!" Back in March, the entire cast met in Atlanta for a table read. In the video posted by Netflix, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Sadie Sink, Keery, Cara Buono, and Priah Ferguson were all seen sharing hugs and laughs.
Harbour's return to the show was confirmed in the season four first trailer, despite his character Jim Hopper's 'death' in the third season finale. The fourth season was renewed in September and when season 3 of Stranger Things released, on the Fourth of July, it resulted in the biggest viewership numbers for a Netflix original series or film for the first few days.
As the characters age, it is very possible that the show turns darker and more intense. Season three definitely had a much darker undertone when compared to season 1 and 2, so, going by the gradual progression, it looks like we are in for a treat. But sadly, it will be a while before we get to watch the show again. The production was halted and there is no news on when they will resume filming. The filming was initially scheduled from January to August 2020 and since there is still quite a bit of shooting left, it is clear that the fans have a long wait in front of them.
