Steve Irwin's Son Robert Looks Exactly Like His Father As He Recreates Iconic Koala Photo

Robert Irwin, the 16-year-old son of the late wildlife expert, is a spitting image of his dad in a new Instagram post where he's seen cuddling a Koala.

Some say you can never escape your genes and that is very much true in the case of Robert Irwin, the son of former wildlife expert and conservationist Steve Irwin. This viral photo is a testimony to that. On Tuesday, the 16-year-old shared an Instagram photo with a rescued Koala—in an attempt to recreate an iconic photo of his late dad, Steve Irwin—and let us tell you, the internet is loving it and cannot get over the uncanny resemblance between the two.

In the post, the teenager could be seen cuddling a koala wearing a khaki outfit, immortalized by his father, and a leather watchband just like Steve Irwin did. Both Robert and Steve show off their blond hair in their respective snaps with a green backdrop while holding the bear in their hands.

The young Irwin's followers flooded the post with comments pointing out the similarities between the father-son duo. "You look just like your father and have a huge heart like his," one said. "Golden memories of your papa", another wrote. "Genuinely thought you were your dad here. Love this photo", yet another follower admitted.

"Seriously, scrolling through my feed in passing I was like “That is a really good picture of his dad!” Then I realized it was actually you. You look a lot like him in this picture(at least from what I remembered about watching his show)", some other user opined.

"Here in Hawaii we have so many visitors from Australia... I always ask them how things are in their area... it breaks my heart to hear about the devastation... seeing this is so amazing. I wanna hold a koala 🐨 too", one more of his 1.9 million followers typed.

Steve Irwin, also popular as The Crocodile Hunter, was an Australian conservationist and television personality who made his name for several wildlife-related productions on various channels like NatGeo, Discovery, and Animal Planet among others. Unfortunately, Irwin died while filming the documentary series Ocean's Deadliest when he was attacked by a stingray along the northern Australia coast. He died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44, doing what he loved. His legacy is being continued by his wife Terri Irwin and children Bindi and Robert who are both working to conserve the Australian wildlife.
