While flipping through the pages of a National Geographic magazine, most of us have wished to be a wildlife photographer at least once in our lives. Very few things in existence could match up the thrill of capturing the wild beasts in their natural habitat without even disturbing them. Only a few people get the chance to photograph wild animals in their natural habitat, Suren Manvelyan is one of them. In fact, he managed to get so close to these animals, he got to capture insanely-detailed close-ups of their eyes. The macro shots of these wild animals' eyes look similar to surreal landscape shots of unknown planets. Or they will remind you of the fabled portals to a different dimension. In a conversation with Bored Panda, Manvelyan said, "I began thinking about this series after I completed a similar one about the human eye. After the first project, I had really improved in shooting eyes in any conditions, and eventually settled on the idea to photograph animal eyes." The talented photographer captured the eyes of almost any animal he came across. He said, "Sometimes, people even contact me, asking to shoot the eyes of their pets."

He continued, "The eyes of every animal is the result of it adapting to its living conditions. That's the reason why there are so many eye types. Water animals have completely different eyes than those living on earth, too. I think this is what makes the animal eye series so interesting to the viewer." The talented photographer also started an interactive game with his online followers where he would upload a new picture and ask them to guess which animal it is. He admitted, "Interestingly, it can become quite a tough challenge."

Getting close to animals can be a challenge. For instance, Manvelyan spent an hour with a llama in her cage in order to become familiar with her and get that million-dollar shot. He said, "I would like to stress that all animals included in the series were alive and no animal was hurt in any way during shoots." While he would understandably not speak about his techniques of photography or the set up he uses for his series,  he said that the most important aspect was realizing that people's eye structures were the same. He concluded, saying, "It doesn't matter if you are young or old, White or Black." Check out some of the most amazing works by the artist.
