Most of us would find squirrels either burrowing holes in the backyard or flying from tree branches, but this photographer managed to capture the exact shot of the rodent sniffing a bunch of wildflowers.
Nature is truly something that is simply inexplicable. The amount of joy and bliss you feel walking on a forest trail, sitting by the ocean watching the waves, or even just sipping a coffee viewing snow-capped mountains, it's surreal.
And when animals and nature come together, it brings back a special bond that dates back to tens and thousands of years. But there are very rare special moments that capture this relationship and a photographer Dick van Duijn, 34, from the Netherlands managed to take a photo that is going viral for all the right reasons. As reported by Fox 13 News.
Duijn who works in Vienna, Austria currently, took an adorable photograph of the exact moment a small ground squirrel stopped to smell the flowers. The squirrel was checking to find out which one would taste the best. Most of us would often find squirrels either burrowing holes in the backyard or flying from tree branches, but this photographer spent over two hours just to get the exact shot of the rodent sniffing a bunch of wildflowers.
And that's not all. Duijn claimed that he had to take over 200 photos of the moment in order to get it right. "I went to Austria especially to photograph the ground squirrels,” van Duijn reportedly told SWNS. "It was great to witness this, and very satisfying."
“This curious ground squirrel started smelling and tasting the flower,” the Dutch photographer recalled. "I was really happy after capturing a photo like this."
The photos show the squirrel nearing a yellow daisy, touching the flower to its face. You can also see its eyes being closed, just as it enjoys inhaling the scent of the flower. The photographer claimed that moments later, the squirrel leaned in for a tasty bite of the daisy.

People on Twitter have been raving about this particular photo and appreciated the photographer for his persistence and timing of his click. Great pic. Squirrels around my place smell all our flowers just before they eat them all, a Twitter user said.
Meanwhile, another added: Someone give them some sort of award for taking quite possibly the cutest picture in human history. No politics. No traffic. No crime. Just the pure bliss of nature.
If a squirrel can take time to smell the flowers, why can’t you? Take a moment to take it in the beauty around you today. https://t.co/qk8bOPrfbd— Hannah Drake (@HannahDrake628) September 7, 2019
