Netflix's 'You' Season 2 Will Explore Joe's 'Nauseating' Early Life And It's COMING SOON

Both Penn Badgley and showrunner Sera Gamble have revealed some exciting details about the upcoming season, including who's returning and who is not.

In case you don't already know, the psychological thriller show which kept the world glued to their screens while being paranoid that somebody was watching them is returning for another season on Netflix!

You season two is happening and the production has already begun. And well, to the joy of fans who have a love-hate relationship with Joe Goldberg, Penn Badgley is returning to play his creepy stalker role. The psycho bookstore manager is looking for another victim, who will it be?

Not Beck, for the starters. "Why?" Because she's dead for good. In a recent interview with ET Online, Penn confirmed that Elizabeth Lail won't be coming back for season two as Joe surely killed her.

When asked which one of his 'kills' was the worst for him to cope with, he replied, “Beck’s death, even though it didn’t happen on camera.” Elizabeth Lail, the actress who played the part, also previously revealed that her character is dead but fans still hoped to see her again in the new season in flashbacks or something like how we saw Candace.

Instead, Victoria Pedretti, who won our hearts as Nell Crain in The Haunting of Hill House is next up on Joe's radar. "Haunting of Hill House breakout Victoria Pedretti landed the female lead in @YouNetflix Season 2. She plays Love Quinn, an aspiring chef who doesn't care about social media. She's also tending to a deep grief — so when she meets Joe she senses a shared knowledge of profound loss," Netflix tweeted.

On the other hand, Joe's ex-ex Candace who may or may not be alive, however, is all set to haunt Joe once again. A picture of Penn and Childers with the script of the show on their table surfaced on the internet, confirming that the revenge plot is going to be THICK in this one. According to showrunner Sera Gamble, that's all the season is going to be about - Joe and his messed up past life.

In season 2, Joe will move from New York to LA. "We'll be going into Joe's early life in season two, and naturally we want to know more and move around in his entire life. I will say that the whole time we're in the writers' room talking about what that story could be, or what flashbacks or glimpses into his life we might catch, this has been a guiding principle for us; he had a pretty terrible childhood and that does contribute to who he is as an adult," Sera told Cosmopolitan.

"But we also wanted to make it clear that a lot of us had shitty childhoods and most of us don't do what Joe Goldberg does - we're trying to walk that line. He doesn't want to kill anyone ever again, but probably in season two he will end up killing someone. He's absolutely heartbroken after Beck and he and also we're keenly aware that people are coming to the show after binging season 1 and have all fallen in love with Elisabeth Lail [Beck]," she added.

Penn has also teased that the upcoming season is going to be disgusting! “There are some things I’ve done with prosthetic bodies in this [new] season that were kind of nauseating as I did them, I will say that."

He also added that Joe is a very sick person and it takes him quite a while to recover from that character because well, nobody hates Joe more than Penn himself. “It’s the ones where I’m trying to embody Joe really living in that house, really having these rare moments of coming to terms with what he’s done, and that’s far more difficult than committing a certain act in a moment, whether it’s hitting Shay Mitchell over the head with a rock or stabbing someone in the neck." We don't have an official release date yet but the show is expected to release later this year. Will you be watching?
