Here's everything we know so far.
Looks like Christmas is here, earlier than we thought! If you are a fan of the Netflix movie Christmas Chronicles, we have some incredible news heading your way. Netflix just dropped the first trailer of the upcoming sequel and it's the best thing to happen in a year filled with gloom and doom! As expected, the film brings back Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, respectively. Now if you are wondering when the movie will hit Netflix, it is coming sooner than we thought. It will be available on Netflix (November 25), giving us enough time to watch it countless times before a big Christmas Eve.
The first movie, although released in 2018, has already proven to be an instant Christmas classic. I'm sure not many would disagree with that. As soon as the first installment hit Netflix, people were demanding a sequel, and to be honest, it was almost inevitable. Seriously, what a way to bring an end to this year. The first movie was dubbed as a massive hit, as per Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer at Netflix. He said it is one of Russell's most successful films ever. "Even in his successful career, [Kurt Russell] has never had that many people see one of his movies in the first week ever. That’s a testimony to what we can bring to the market for storytellers today that we couldn’t have ten years ago."
Now if you can't recall what happened in the first movie, it follows the story of young siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce as they attempt to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. However, as fate would have it, things go awry and they accidentally crash Santa's sleigh. The siblings then join forces with St Nick to get the gifts delivered on time. The official synopsis of the movie reads: "The story of sister and brother, Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about."
And for the sequel, The Christmas Chronicles 2, the story will revisit Kate, a disillusioned teenager now and her brother Teddy. Netflix mentions Kate is "unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel (played by Julian Dennison) threatens to destroy Christmas forever."
If the success of the last movie is anything to go by, it looks like the 2020 holiday season will perhaps be another one for the history books! Now that the first trailer for the sequel has officially dropped, you can check it out below and tell us what you think.
