Miley Cyrus Turns Christmas Classic 'Santa Baby' Into A Feminist Anthem

It sounds wonderful and it's already my favorite holiday song. Have you heard it?

As the holiday season closes in, we will hear a lot of timeless and classic holiday songs playing in our nearest areas and our homes. While some songs like It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Run Rudolph Run, and Do They Know Its Christmas will forever hold a special place in our hearts, there are a few that aged like milk. The song Baby It's Cold Outside faced a lot of heat back in 2018, but that doesn't mean all old songs have to be problematic!

Disney icon turned popstar Miley Cyrus recently gave a brand new spin to the song Santa Baby and we are loving it! Cyrus turned the hit 1953 song into a feminist anthem and performed the number along with Mark Ronson and Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show." Skipping the usual lyrics, "Santa baby/slip a sable under the tree for me/Been an awful good girl/Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight/Santa baby, a '54 convertible too convertible too, light blue", Cyrus was heard singing, "Santa, baby/ I don't need any fancy jewelry, not me/I've got something else in mind Santa baby,/And I don't need your presents tonight."

Given the fact that Santa Baby is all about flirting with Santa hoping that he'll give you dank gifts, Cyrus rescued the song and stopped it from gaining any controversy by giving it a complete makeover and took it upon herself to give us the version of Santa Baby we all deserve. Clearly, in the new version of the song, the 28-year-old pop star makes it clear that she needs no diamonds or fancy cars from Santa since she has already bought all of that for herself. If she asks anything from Santa Claus, it's equal pay for women and other much more useful things. Undoubtedly, this song is going straight to my playlist of must-listen Christmas songs.

People were also pretty impressed by this version and left rave reviews on YouTube. One person wrote, "I'm a man in my 30s and love the fact she did this. She hasn't replaced the original - it still exists and the human race is free to listen to it still. But there's nothing wrong with using some of your fame to make a valid point (namely that women depend on men to buy things for them)." A second one added, "I'm a man & I love Miley's twist on this X-mas classic. I used to like the classic when I was a kid, but not when I became a teen because the woman just came off as a gold digger. I would love to see Miley do this twist for Baby it's cold outside. That song has always been creepy/ cringy!" A third one quipped, "So funny love the change it’s not that serious but this version is so funny."
