Jared Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a man who searches for a cure to his blood disease and becomes a horrifying abomination
Sony recently had a big hit with Venom, which turned one of Spider-Man's most dangerous villains into a mugger-eating anti-hero. Now, to keep the streak of monstrous good guys going, Marvel is bringing Spider-Man's tormented vampire villain to the big screen.
Morbius is one of my favorite Marvel comic book characters. Unlike many of Spider-Man's sinister foes, Morbius is a creature made monstrous by tragic circumstances. Most of his earliest crimes were either him trying to fix his condition or losing control of his bloodlust. In the grimdark 1990s Morbius gained some control over his appetites and became an avenger in the night, slaking his hunger on criminals and other evildoers.
Now, the beleaguered doctor and hemoglobin enthusiast is coming to the big screen with Jared Leto as the title character.
Morbius is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 31, 2020. Watch the trailer below.
