Here's everything we know so far.
Looks like the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is all ready to set sail once again with Australian actress Margot Robbie on board, reported The Hollywood Reporter. This will be the new version of one of Disney's biggest film franchises and we are absolutely stoked. Robbie, who has previously starred in movies like Suicide Squad, I Tonya, and The Wolf of Wall Street will play the role of a female pirate and the movie is in the early stages of development.
Margot Robbie’s ‘PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN’ film will not be a spin-off and will instead be a female-fronted wholly original story with new characters.

The movie is not going to be a formal spin-off of the Disney-headed franchise but rather a separate original story with new characters. This franchise is latest in line by Hollywood that has seen unprecedented growth in reimagining classic movies by casting women in the lead roles. Apart from the latest Pirates of the Caribbean, some of the others include the 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters starring Melissa McCarthy and 2018's Ocean's 8.

No plot details for the movie are available as of now, but we know that the script is being written by Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson and the movie will be produced by longtime Pirates filmmaker Jerry Bruckheimer. Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most lucrative and successful movie franchises of all time. To date, all five of its movies have earned more than $4.5 billion worldwide.
Very happy for Margot Robbie on landing the Pirates of the Caribbean movie! She’s gonna kill it!

But can we agree that Johnny Depp should still play Jack Sparrow because his lying ass ex wife fabricated stories about being abused and almost ruined his life?
Savvy?
But there is also no denying that the Pirates of the Caribbean series have begun to show signs of aging. In the fifth installment of the franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales was the second-lowest grossing box office movie of the series. Since then, the studio has been planning to revive the series in multiple ways with new talent on board. Hodson is one of Hollywood's go-to blockbuster writers and she has movies like Transformers spinoff Bumblebee as well as DC superhero projects The Flash in her credits.
I would just like to point out that I’m not against Margot Robbie starring in a Pirates Of The Caribbean movie. I just think she should be starring along side Johnny Depp who made the franchise what it is.

Robbie and Hodson have worked together previously in the Birds of Prey movie and in 2019, they also launched Lucky Exports Pitch Program where they aim at getting more women writers for action-centric movies.

Depp has headlined the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise since the first movie that released in 2003 where he played the role of the rum-loving sarcastic Captain Jack Sparrow. Lately, Depp has found himself marred in controversy after the alleged abuse allegations surfaced which were made by his ex-wife Amber Heard. The actor has denied all the accusations and claims that Heard abused him instead.

The 57-year-old actor submitted a statement to the court which read, "I have denied Ms. Heard’s allegations vehemently since she first made them in May 2016 when she walked into court to obtain a temporary restraining order with painted-on bruises that witnesses and surveillance footage show she did not possess each day of the preceding week.
