Scott Perry has decided to 'marry' his pet cat Olivia in a ceremony that will be live-streamed on Instagram.
This pandemic has been hard on all of us, and it has been especially tricky for couples. Where some couples have come closer than ever, others have realized they are better off each other. Scott Perry is one such man who lost his lady love but found the love of his life, later on. He even popped the question during the quarantine. But his new love story is a bit different. You see, Perry's love, Olivia, is actually a cat. Amidst the global crisis, Scott Perry has decided to marry his new love, Olivia the cat, reported PEOPLE.
Olivia is now a 7-year-old cat adopted from Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles by Perry with his then-girlfriend. They adopted her in 2015 when she was just 2. At first, the furry feline was pretty shy and according to Scott, she used to hide under furniture most of the time. Although Olivia took a while, she finally warmed up to Perry after he was going through a hard break up.
He said, "I don’t know why Olivia pulled the disappearing act, but within days of my girlfriend leaving the next year, Olivia emerged from her shell and has not left my side ever since!" Since then, Olivia and Scott have bonded beautifully and have become even closer during the lockdown. In order to show how grateful he is for Olivia, Perry decided to propose to the cat to show his appreciation for her.

Perry said when he went to propose, Olivia was lying out on the front porch. When Perry popped the question, Olivia responded to the proposal with a "Meow!" which Perry took as a "Yes!" This news has definitely brought joy to a lot of people, but the real reason why Olivia and Perry are 'tying the knot' is that they want to raise money to help Best Friends Animal Society Los Angeles, the animal shelter that brought them together.
Perry has also created their wedding website on Zola and there is a link to their registry, where fans can leave a message and donate for the shelter. Perry and Olivia both hope that they can raise $5,000 for the shelter and they are doing their absolute best to encourage all animal lovers to donate to the local animal shelter.
Everyone is invited to their wedding which you can RSVP on the Zola website. The wedding will take place on Saturday, May 23, on Perry’s Instagram Live. The wedding is said to be a celebration of joy and how much love a shelter pet can bring to your life, and how a simple act of kindness can change a pet's life forever.
Perry said, "My kitty has helped me stay sane during this lockdown. Pets allow us to have a warm, positive interaction with another living creature while we have to maintain distance from others. And I am sure that our furry friends have helped millions of others cope with this situation worldwide. The impact of the work that shelters have done is immeasurable. They provide safety to animals and happiness to families throughout the year, especially when we are smack dab in the middle of kitten season," he added. "I challenge everyone to donate and adopt from local shelters, and commit to their pet on May 23."
