'Kingdom' Season 2 Is Coming To Netflix This March And Here's Everything We Know So Far

Season 2 will feature old and new characters and is likely to take off from where it ended in the shocking finale of season 1.

Kingdom Season 2 is only a month away and we are absolutely stoked! The show that was released a year ago took Netflix by storm with its six episodes. The show follows the story of a zombie sageuk (historical drama) that takes place in the Joseon era. While trying to save the people from the plague, crown prince Lee Chang comes back to his palace so that he can find out the source of the epidemic. Instead, he discovers other secrets and plots within the palace. The first season finale ended with an absolutely shocker, and the fans of the series have been eagerly waiting for the next season to arrive.

According to fandomewire, the filming of the second season started in February last year and was scheduled for a January 2020 release, but for reasons unknown, it was moved to March. The cast of the series comprises Joo Ji Hoon, Bae Doo Na, and Ryu Seung Ryong. For the second season, Park Byung Eun and Kim Tae Hoon will feature as the new characters. The script is penned by Kim Eun-hee and the show will be directed by Kim Seong-hun.

Kingdom is based on the Korean webcomic titled Land of the Gods by Kim Eun-hee, a well-known screenwriter and filmmaker in South Korea. If you have already watched the show, you definitely understand what the hype is all about. The six-episode first season had a stunning set of visuals, and it is only a taste of what's to come for the second season.  Netflix released the poster for the second season. It shows the primary characters cornered on the roof while they try to escape the zombies, whose numbers have increased exponentially.

The caption of the poster reads, "Who will be the ones to make it out alive?” The second season is expected to pick up right where season one ended. It will likely follow the Crown Prince's journey to find the truth behind how the disease broke out and who is actually responsible for the king contracting the disease. Netflix released a short teaser for the second season of the show on December 23 and you can watch it right here.

The synopsis of the first season reads, "The deceased king rises and a mysterious plague begins to spread; the prince must face a new breed of enemies to unveil the evil scheme and save his people."  All episodes of season 2 of Kingdom will drop on March 13.  Are you excited?
