World's Largest Halloween & Horror Convention Is Happening At Midsummer Scream

Get into the Halloween spirit by attending the biggest Halloween and horror convention in the world!

Halloween may be a few months away, but if you're a fan of all things horror, there's nothing like kicking off the season with a visit to Midsummer Scream. The Halloween festival is a dedication to all the thrills, scares, and chills of the spooky holiday. This year, Midsummer Scream will take place on Saturday, August 3, and Sunday, August 4 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

The event will feature some of horror's biggest, baddest, and best, including BuzzFeed Unsolved's Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej, Halloweentown's Kimberley J. Brown, and Hocus Pocus writer Mick Garris - along with many others. Needless to say, this is definitely an event that you won't want to miss out on.

The 2019 edition of Midsummer Scream has several panelists for those who are interested in what goes on behind the scenes of a horror project, whether's that's a movie, novel, or television show.

There are a bunch of experts you'll want to hear from, such as Penelope Sudrow, who plays Jennifer in Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors, Mistress of the Dark Cassandra Peterson, and Season Pass podcast host Doug Barnes.

If panels aren't really your thing and you want to immerse yourself in some experiences, fret not. Midsummer Scream has something for everyone. Over the two-day festival, you could hit up the Hall of Shadows, "a dark zone themed this year to Tiki Terror," according to Insider Magazine.

This installment, in particular, is expected to feature more than a dozen haunted attractions and displays. Alternatively, you could visit the 350 different exhibitors who will be showcasing anything and everything horror fans could ever want. Whether you're looking for props, makeup, clothing, or original artwork, there's an exhibitor who's probably got exactly what you have in mind.

Now, when we say Midsummer Scream has something for everyone, we really do mean it. The horror festival even has something for young horror fans who may not be ready for the big spooks just yet. Kids under the age of 10 receive free entry into the festival, and they can participate in thrilling activities all weekend long.

From monstrous games (with prizes!) to fun workshops, your children will have a blast. There's even a special meet and greet session with none other than actress LeeAnna Vamp, od LeAnna Vamp and the Fiends fame.

In the past, attendees of the event have raved about Midsummer Scare. Cindy Freasier-Ayala, for instance, posted to the festival's official Facebook page: This is my FAVORITE of the Halloween/Horror conventions. I love the Halloween maze walkthroughs. They have the best ones and they are well-organized with the lines. The choice and variety of vendors [are] awesome! I also love the fact that this convention is in Long Beach. Walking distance to hotels, great food places, the beach, and Queen Mary! Yes, Midsummer Scream is always the highlight of my summer.
