In a new heartwarming video, Johnny Depp dressed up as his iconic character and spoke to patients at a children's hospital.
Johnny Depp is back in Captain Jack Sparrow's shoes once again! The Pirates of the Caribbean recently got back in costume to cheer up his young fans during a virtual visit to a children's hospital. Dressed up as his iconic character, the 57-year-old spoke to patients at Queensland Children's Hospital, expressing how much it meant to him to be able to meet them. The Juiced TV virtual visit, which was streamed live online, was also staged from a pirate theme set to give young viewers the full experience of meeting the legendary Jack Sparrow.
"It's been a couple of years since I've been there and I miss it and I wanted to say hello," Depp told the kids during the visit, reports Daily Mail. "It's a wonderful facility. I'm with all of you and I send you all my love, all my irreverence, and ignorance because it's fun to be irreverent and ignorant. Thank you for sticking with me through all these very strange years," he added, seemingly referring to his much-publicized divorce troubles with ex-wife Amber Heard.
"These three beautiful young people I've spoken with this evening and having heard from people who sent videos in, like little Ula, is one of the finest and most beautiful experiences that I've ever experienced and that is because of all of your commitment to this project and to taking care of one another and to helping out when times are curious and confusing," said Depp. While the star has always been a regular visitor to Great Ormond Street hospital in London, his visits took on a new meaning when his now 21-year-old daughter Lily Rose was treated at Great Osmond Street hospital in London for E-coli poisoning in 2007.

During an appearance on the Graham Norton Show after her recovery, Depp spoke about how emotionally draining it was to see Rose in the hospital. "When my daughter was ill in Great Ormond Street, it was the darkest period of my life. I'd always done these visits but after that experience, the visits became more and more important," he explained. "The kids [at the hospital] are so courageous but to be able to bring a smile or a giggle to the parents means everything in the world to me."

According to E! Online, Depp also took a moment to praise the staff at Queensland Children's Hospital during his virtual visit. "I must thank everyone who's made this virtual visit possible," he said. "But to be able to see Asha, Thomas, and Gabby... and I have been there and I've seen the amount of forward motion and instant movement that goes down in your kind of facilities. You guys work—all the nurses, the healthcare workers, the doctors—you work like absolute heroes." Before signing off from the over one-hour-long session, the star added, "But I thank you all for allowing me to have this time with you—either as Johnny or as Captain Jack."
After seeing Johnny Depp suited up as Jack Sparrow again, fans have been clamoring to see him back in action. Here are some of the reactions.
This means that Disney allowed him to rock the costume for a good cause. If they dropped him the can deny him permission to wear it due to the licensing and if they feel it's bad for their brand. This is a good sign. pic.twitter.com/bcoTj3rjGo— Donna (@BellaDonnaRulz) June 19, 2020
Just speak up, tag Disney and Warner Brothers with hashtag #NoJohnnyNoPirates. We should tell the world to bring him back, because he deserves it. Also we have a petition that yesterday reached 200 000 signatures. You can share it too. ❤️https://t.co/TFRx48OD1J— 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐦 ☆∴｡ (@YouDidNotExist) June 19, 2020
Lovely thing to do. I wonder if it's at all significant that he has re-emerged as Captain Jack Sparrow after such a long time.— redlikejungle (@redlikejungle) June 19, 2020
He must play the part again... What do we need to do, to make this happen for him?!— Pamela (@brugge610) June 19, 2020
