Jim Carrey Casually Transforms Into The 'Grinch' Mid-Interview And It's Creepily Awesome

The iconic actor played the role of Grinch in How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

Who doesn't love Jim Carrey? If you love watching Hollywood movies then you must know the wide spectrum of Carrey's acting chops. Back in 2000, Carrey played the role of the Grinch in How The Grinch Stole Christmas and he was absolutely brilliant in it.

While the movie was a top-tier one, it is more well-known for the makeup process. Special effects makeup artist Kazuhiro Tsuji explained while filming The Grinch, Carrey sat through hours of grueling make up each day. And the full-body transformation not only required prosthetics, but he also had to wear green fur and contact lenses.

But underneath all this crazy make-up and special effects, Carrey’s notorious expression is still remembered widely by his fans. It has been 20 years since the film released and we recently learned that the Grinch still lives inside Carrey. Earlier this year, when he was at the press junket for his movie, Sonic the Hedgehog, Carrey transformed into his own green character in the middle of an interview and it was creepily awesome, reported Screen Crush

When asked about how he feels about the characters he played being brought to life, the actor said, "It's really fun when you see a little kid dressed up as The Grinch, or something like that - or they come up to me in the streets and their parent says, 'You know who that is? That's The Grinch'."And I go, 'I must find a way to stop Christmas from coming'."

He then went on to recite one of the most quotable Grinch lines along with the same sinister smile and we were floored to see how accurate it still is, even without the makeup and the prosthetics. The actor also explained how most people thought the expression was because of the makeup.

The clip quickly became viral and people were in awe with Carrey's ability to control the muscles in his face. One person wrote, "Jim has to be made of living clay!! It's the ONLY explanation!! It's so freaking creepy and cool how he can just mold his face like that and back to normal so smoothly!!" Another one added, "The only Grinch I acknowledge." A third one added, "He can be Willem Dafoe better than Willem Dafoe." Over the years, Carrey has given us some hilarious facial expressions. Be it in Liar Liar or The Mask, nobody has quite come close to his acting acumen.

In a separate interview with Rotten Tomatoes, the actor spoke about his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog movie. He said, "I've been doing some serious stuff and then something like this comes along and it's just an opportunity presented to me by the universe. It's really kind of fun, it's really kind of great. It's a part of me that never leaves - you know, people don't have to worry that I'm never going to have that part of my brain, that just wants to have some silly fun."
