The first six episodes of the 'Mad About You' revival limited series will be aired on Spectrum Originals on November 20.
Paul Buchman and Jamie Stemple Buchman were a force to be reckoned with. The iconic '90s sitcom was all about the newly-married couple in New York, living their life, dealing with everything from humorous fun stuff to major struggles.
And now if you miss that show, Spectrum Originals have recently announced that it has picked up a Mad About You limited series and it is coming to the small screens sooner than you think.
Following this announcement, the show stars Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt gave a joint statement expressing their delight over the reboot.
“We are so excited to finally be doing this and thrilled to have Peter Tolan as our fearless captain. We promise you the same funny and heartwarming show — as soon as we can remember what’s funny about being older. It’s going to be great,” the actors were quoted as saying by People.
Hunt and Reiser spoke to PEOPLE at The Paley Center For Media’s 2019 PaleyFest Fall TV Previews in Beverly Hills. “It was kind of pinch ourselves kind of joy,” Reiser said. “It was just like a really warm, wonderful feeling that here we are and we’re all aware of like how lucky we are to all be alive, healthy, doing this — playing in a show that we love, that we all had seven great years on.”
And that's not all. Reiser became so nostalgic that he compared returning to the show like going back to your second year of college. “Like I already had good roommates, I like everything and I can’t wait to go back.”
“We were also all just getting a kick out of each other. Like hearing Richard Kind deliver his lines that, you know, he’s going to hit out of the park … so it was great. I keep telling people, it’s like getting together with old friends that you haven’t seen. There’s no awkwardness,” he added. “You hit the ground running, and that’s how it felt with this show.”
According to reports, the 'Mad About You' reboot will focus on the life of the Buchmans after they have dropped off their "unpredictable, hard-to-control" grown-up daughter Mabel at college.
And as you may have guessed, the Buchmans now live their life as empty-nesters and it will be interesting to see what we have in store this time. And let's not forget, we also have Paul's cousin Ira, and his friend Mark returning for the reboot series. Mark is now married to a new character, Tonya.
The first six episodes of the revival series will be aired on November 20 on Spectrum Originals while the last six episodes on December 18.
Even Helen Hunt had expressed her excitement over the reboot as she shared a picture with her costar at the first script reading with the caption: "First day of school."
“I was excited because we’ve been working for a long time to get this little 27 minutes of TV together,” she told PEOPLE. “I feel so grateful to have Paul as a partner because we have a very strange, like-minded way of looking at making this. So I was excited.”
“Last night, we shot the first one. And right before, I’d say starting about an hour and a half before we started, I was good nervous,” she added. “But that’s what rehearsals are for, to sort of see you through when you’re nervous.”
