North Carolina Is Hosting A Pickle-Themed Festival This Year And It Sounds Dill-icious

The festival takes place in the actual pickle capital of the US -- Mount Olive and it is able to attract thousands of people from all over the world.

Who doesn't love a good pickle? They are the go-to crunchy snacks and they even taste great with burgers, or even as a fried snack. If you are one of those people who love pickles in any form, then you might be really happy to know that there is an annual pickle festival in North Carolina for two whole days, reported Narcity. The event takes place in the actual pickle capital of the US, Mount Olive and the population of the town is 4,500 people.

The festival is taking place on April 24 and 25 this year. This event takes place every year and it sees thousands of people from across the world who love pickles. Mount Olive is the place that is home to the famous Mt. Olive Pickle Company. The company produces one of the most well-known pickles manufacturers in the country and was founded in the mid-1920s by a Lebanese immigrant, Shikrey Baddour. He saw a huge opportunity in the wasted cucumber crops of the local farmers and boy, was he right!

Over the years, the company has grown and as of today, it is the number one in the pickle industry in the U.S. Because of the name and fame of the company, the festival attracts thousands of people from all over the world who share their mutual love for pickles. You can enjoy and taste a large number of snacks and other pickle-flavored foods like peanuts, popcorn, snow cones and even donuts in this event. The attendees of the event are given free passes and they were also given 158 cases of pickles or 832 jars last year.

There is also a pickle eating contest where the winner would be the person who ate the most pickles in the shortest amount of time. The winner is then given a cash prize and a trophy. Last year,  they gave away 4,600 whole Kosher Dill and Hot-n-Spicy pickles. Other activities in the event include carnival games and rides, a 5k run, car shows, as well as live music from local musicians that are featured annually. Last year, the festival hosted its first-ever beer garden and it also had an amazing music line-up that entertained the attendees.

Tickets for this year's festival are not announced yet, but it will be available soon here, so keep an eye out for this space as we will update it as soon as any additional information drops.
