Creator Bryan Fuller has assured fans that the whole cast and crew of Hannibal is ready for season 4, it's only a matter of time!
Back me up when I say this, Hannibal is the BEST horror show ever made, period. The American psychological horror–thriller television series following the life of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a good-looking cannibal was such a TREAT to the eyes until of course, NBC canceled the show after three seasons because many couldn't handle the gore.
First aired in 2013, the last we shipped Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy was FOUR years ago and longtime fans of the series have been waiting for a revival ever since. Is there hope for season four?
There certainly is! Ever since the show was canceled, creator Bryan Fuller has assured fans that wasn't the end of Hannibal and the show will return for another season. Hannibal, a character created by Thomas Harris for his novel Red Dragon, has a MAJOR fan base, often known as 'fannibals' and NBC's excuse for putting an end to the show was 'low ratings,' which, honestly, is beyond me, given the fact that the show was an amazing hit and even bagged itself multiple prestigious awards.
But, worry not. There's no stopping Hannibal. He's coming late sure, but he is COMING. When asked by a fan recently if season 4 is still happening or not, Fuller replied, "No one has given up! I've made it clear I want to do it, the cast wants to do it and Martha wants to do it. We just need a network or a streaming service that wants to do it, too. I don't feel there's a clock on it or an expiration date for the idea. We just need someone to bite."
Mads, too, has spoken on the show's future earlier and revealed that he is up for returning as Hannibal, "It all depends on Bryan. He is the key, the base, the heart. We will wait and see what happens next in his career. But we all know that we can easily pick this up in two or three years, there are breaks in the stories. We could pick it up, say, four years later. If Bryan is up for it, we will all go for it."
In fact, he even spilled some beans on where season 4 will be possibly headed. "I know that [Fuller] was working to get the rights to Silence of the Lambs so he could get in there and use some of those characters for his own universe. I have a hunch that might be where we’re going," he told BloodyDisgusting. "Yeah, I think there’s always new hope."
"I haven’t heard anything specific. I know Bryan is still working on some ideas where we can find a new home for this. I also have a strong feeling that everybody who was involved in it would gladly pick up the glove again if that happens. I don’t know where they looked. That is above my paycheck, but I know they’ve been talking to different studios," he added. All we need now is a network to pick this awesome show up! Time to spam Netflix, you guys. NBC never deserved it anyway.
"The cast is game, I’m game, it’s just a matter of finding the right time where everybody’s schedules sync up, but I would love to continue to tell the story with Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen. They’re such fantastic collaborators, and one of the most satisfying actor-showrunner relationships I’ve ever had in this industry. So I would love to continue this story," says Fuller. Fans of Lucifer saved the show and landed it on Netflix as an 'original.' You know what to do.
