'Halloween Kills' Is Releasing This October And It's Going To Be Even More Gruesome

Michael Myers actor James Jude Courtney said that 'Halloween Kills' is the '2018 film on speed.'

When John Carpenter wrote Halloween in 1978, nobody thought it will become a cult classic. But, along the years, the movie became one of the most famous slasher movies of all time. In subsequent years, a lot of sequels have been made and most of them have received mixed reviews (except 2018 Halloween) and they were never as good as the original. But, a few years ago, David Gordon Green and actor Danny McBride started working on a direct sequel to John Carpenter's film and the project was so good that Carpenter himself wished them all the best.

2018's Halloween saw Jaime Lee Curtis playing the role of Laurie Strode and the events of the sequels pick up right after the 1978 film. The sequel movie was a smash hit in the box office and earned 25x times its $10 million budget at the box office. Unsurprisingly, two direct sequels of the movie were ordered, titled HALLOWEEN KILLS and HALLOWEEN ENDS.  The former movie finished its filming last year in November and is releasing on October 16 this year. In the past, one of the key problems faced by the Halloween sequels is that they often tend to become repetitive.

But, this time, it's not going to be the case. In a conversation over podcast Pop Culture With Pat (as reported by Joblo), Michael Myers actor James Jude Courtney said that if the audience thought the 2018 movie was gory, then they are in for quite a surprise this year. He said, "We have to make the natural progression from 1978 to 2018 to Halloween Kills – the ante has been upped. The ticking bomb has to be more intense. Otherwise, we’re just doing what we’ve done before. We pumped up the volume on this one. We’ve progressed late into the night, and now that everybody realizes what the stakes are…it’s reaching ahead. It’s [the 2018 film] on speed."

Jamie Lee Curtis delivered a stellar performance and David Gordon Green also did a spectacular job being a director. But, what made HALLOWEEN 2018 a massive hit among the audience was how the people were murdered in the film. The scene depicting Michael Myers killing the two true crime podcasters in a public bathroom was particularly incredible. Being a die-hard fan of the slasher genre, it definitely feels good to hear that the sequel is going to raise the bar even higher. All we hope now is that Myers' character stays true to its nature and it doesn't turn into any supernatural stuff.
