Hallmark Channel Host Cameron Mathison Reveals He Is Battling Kidney Cancer

The former "All My Children" star said that his surgery is scheduled on September 12 and was hoping to receive positive thoughts and prayers.

Hallmark fans were in for a rude shock on Tuesday, September 10 when Cameron Mathison revealed that he is battling kidney cancer and is asking for prayers and positive thoughts.

The Hallmark Channel host, 50, took to Instagram to reveal that he was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. Although Cameron is glad that the cancer was caught early, he thanked his doctor, family, and colleagues.

"I have a health situation that I want to share with you all," he wrote on Instagram. "There are many reasons I love social media, staying connected with you all, sharing fun experiences... well this time I'm asking for your help. About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I've been having, and during that MRI they found a tumor on my right kidney. It's consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma ... or kidney cancer."

"My surgery is scheduled on September 12th, I was hoping to receive positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever you feel comfortable with, on 9/12 (my surgery is at 1pm PST)," he added. "I announced this on @homeandfamilytv yesterday, and wanted to make sure I posted about it here as well. Feeling very grateful and optimistic!!"

"The good news is that it hasn't spread to any other organs," he continued. "They say my healthy lifestyle and diet has no doubt helped keep it from growing and spreading to other areas, as doctors think it's been growing in me for minimum 10 years."

Ever since he posted the message on his Instagram handle, many showered their support and prayed for his good health. This also included many stars who have appeared on Hallmark Channel including Candace Cameron Bure, Ali Sweeney and All My Children alum Lacey Chabert.

“Absolutely praying for you Cameron, and over the doctors and nurses during your surgery as well as your family.” wrote Candace. While Sweeney added: “Praying for you & your family Cam. You got this!!💪🏼 Please let me know if there’s anything we can do. XO.”

"Lifting you up in prayer! All my love to you and your family ❤️,” commented Chabert, 36.

Cameron started his career as a model and then gradually became an actor with roles in movies like 54 and Washed Up. But he became a household name after starring in the ‘90s show All My Children playing Ryan Lavery that even landed him two Daytime Emmy Awards nominations. As reported by US Weekly.

Cameron was also seen in Dancing With the Stars in 2007. He also played minor roles in Drop Dead Diva and Desperate Housewives. Most Hallmark fans would recognise him from The Christmas Ornament and My Gal Sunday.

We wish Cameron Mathison good health and a lot of prayers for his speedy recovery.
