Joe Dante's childhood Christmas classic is all set to make a comeback during the holiday season, and fans can now enjoy the movie in 4DX.
It is hard to believe that Gremlins will be turning 35 this year, and keeping up with the holiday mood, the horror-comedy classic is all set to make a comeback to the big screen at select Regal theaters.
It will begin from December 5 and will also include 4DX screenings, in which fans are bound to enjoy the adventures on the big screen this holiday season. You can go to the official website of Regal Cinemas to book your tickets in theaters near you.
While the fans have to wait for the animated prequel series Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, we can relive all our childhood memories by watching the Joe Dante classic in the meantime, which has been dubbed as one of the most important ones in the Christmas movie genre in recent years.
The movie follows the story of a young boy who has been gifted a mysterious creature, known as a "mogwai" and he has to ensure that the creature called Gizmo never gets wet, feed it after midnight, and never be exposed to any sort of bright light.
However, the boy accidentally gets Gizmo wet, and the mogwai multiplies itself and creates havoc by finding numerous ways to break all the rules they are not supposed to. Needless to say, the movie was successful enough to spawn the sequel Gremlins: The New Batch, which took the creatures to a high-tech skyscraper to cause chaos. The last movie in the franchise came out nearly three decades ago, and since then fans are hoping that a new movie will happen pretty soon.
Even though no official plans for a new movie have been revealed yet, the original director Chris Columbus previously teased he was interested in developing a reboot. In a conversation with Metro, Columbus shared, "Gremlins we are actively talking about that. So that’s what I am working on with my production company 1492 Pictures. It will almost definitely be a reboot."
In a separate conversation with SlashFilm, Colombus said that he had worked on a script for a third film in which Gizmo would meet his demise. He said, "I’m really proud of the script. It is as twisted and dark as anything, so we’ll see. It’s always a budgetary conversation when we’re going to shoot it. I wanted to go back to the really twisted sensibility of the first movie. I found that was a very easy place for me to fall back into and start writing again so hopefully we’ll see that movie soon."
Don't forget to check out the timings of Gremlins and book your tickets to watch this epic film on the big screen starting on Thursday, December 5.
