Freddy Krueger Star Robert Englund Joins The Cast Of 'Stranger Things' Season 4

Robert Englund is one of the eight new faces that have been added to the cast of Stranger Things 4.

Everyone who was eagerly awaiting the fourth season of Stranger Things was disappointed to know that production had been halted, but now things are looking up for fans, and the creators have added some new faces to the mix. According to Variety, Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert Englund will be joining the cast of Stranger Things 4. He is best known for his role as the iconic horror villain Freddy Krueger.

Including Englund, the franchise has added about eight new faces to the mix. The showrunners have cast Jamie Campbell Bower (“Sweeney Todd”), Eduardo Franco (“Booksmart”), and Joseph Quinn (“Catherine the Great”) as series regulars, among several other recurring actors. Even though the exact plot details are being kept under wraps, a teaser for the new episodes released way back in February gave fans confirmation that Hopper (David Harbour) did in fact survive the events of the Season 3 finale and is currently being held hostage in the Soviet Union.

It is understood that Bower will be playing the role of Peter Ballard, a caring man who works as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Franco will play Argyle, who is Jonathan’s new best friend; a fun-loving stoner who is a delivery boy for Surfer Boy Pizza. Quinn will join the series as Eddie Munson, an audacious 80’s metalhead who runs The Hellfire Club, Hawkins High’s official D&D club. Eddie is someone who is loved by people who don't understand him and loved by those who do. Finally, coming back to Englund, he will play Victor Creel, a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.

Along with these actors, joining the cast is Game Of Thrones alum Tom Wlaschiha, who will play Dmitri, a Russian prison guard who befriends Hopper. Sherman Augustus (“Into the Badlands”) as Lt. Colonel Sullivan, who is an intelligent man who believes he knows how to stop the evil in Hawkins once and for all. Mason Dye (“Bosch”) will play Jason Carver. Carver is someone who has it all - he's a jock dating the most popular girl in the school. But, as Hawkins is threatened by a new evil, Jason's perfect world begins to crumble. Nikola Djuricko (“Genius”) will play Yuri, an unpredictable Russian smuggler with a love for bad jokes and peanut butter.

As reported earlier, the 4th season of Stranger Things is touted to be the scariest. In an interview with Total Magazine, show star Joe Keery revealed, "Oh man, it's pretty amazing – the Duffer brothers have really done it again. I think that this year – and I know I say this every single year – but this is definitely going to be a lot scarier than prior years because last year was pretty dark." Even David Harbour dropped some huge hints about season 4 when he appeared at Liverpool Comic-Con. The actor spoke about an episode from season 2 where Hopper's adopted daughter Eleven found boxes named 'New York' and 'Vietnam' suggesting, "There are these three things that we've established in the season that if we don't pay off, it means that they're bad writers. And the Duffer brothers are very good writers. So I know specifically that in Season 4 we will give you a big, huge reveal about Hopper's backstory."

But sadly, it will be a while before we get to watch the show again. The production was halted and there is no news on when they will resume filming. The filming was initially scheduled from January to August 2020 and since there is still quite a bit of shooting left, it is clear that the fans have a long wait in front of them.
