Iconic horror actor Robert Englund might've just teased that he could reprise the role of Freddy Krueger, if only for one more time and we are beyond excited!
Ever since there have been talks surrounding a new Nightmare On Elm Street movie, fans have made their choices for which actor should be the successor to the iconic role of Freddy Krueger made famous by Robert Englund.
Earlier last year, Robert Englund had himself revealed that he was definitely open to playing Freddy Krueger once again, multiple times in fact. In the past, Englund commented that his days of playing Freddy are likely over due to his age. But he’s somewhat changed his tune recently, saying he might want to come back at least one more time.
One more!!!! Freddy Krueger is Robert englund— juan coria (@Johnny_coria) August 22, 2019
Ahead of his cameo for the Halloween episode of The Goldbergs last year, in which he reprised his role as the infamous villain, Englund spoke of the possibility of (another) A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot and his involvement.
The last time Englund played Krueger before this was in 2003's Freddy vs. Jason as the 2010 remake had Jackie Earle Haley playing the character.
I'd still go with @TotalZackWard as the torch bearer for freddy, hes already showed his freddy skills in Freddy vs Jason and nailed it plus he actually looks like a younger Robert— The Review Spot (@spot_review) August 22, 2019
Still, he hasn't seemed to change his mind about that thought as Englund recently shared to the public at Monster Mania that “We need a Freddy that can do the next eight movies – or seven, I don’t want them to remake Part 1 again, I’m not Freddy anymore, you guys. I could do one more…probably. If you shot me up with Vitamin C".
Dead Entertainment [H/T Bloody Disgusting] who were present at Monster Mania, reported that Englund told the crowd gathered that "But here’s the thing. I can’t do eight more, you guys. So we need a new actor that you guys believe in and trust and love that can go the distance.”
Let's do it as FvJ-2. Robert as Freddy. Kevin Bacon plays one of the people caught in the middle... he gets burned in the third Act... I think you see where this is going.— Shannon & Swift (@shannonandswift) August 22, 2019
Though when asked about other prospects to portray the horror legend on-screen, Englund shared that Kevin Bacon, who previously starred in the original Friday the 13th, would make a great fit.
"So we need a new actor that you guys believe in and trust and love that can go the distance.” Englund stated “He’s not a kid anymore either but the rumor I’ve heard that I like is Kevin Bacon. Kevin loves horror. He’s a real actor. He’s a character actor. Kevin was great in Tremors. Kevin was great in Stir of Echoes. And I’ve heard this rumor. We need someone like that to take it on. And re-do it, exploiting all of the new technology.”

Thank you all. I'd love that role and hold it tight like a dead fetus till its fresh soul made me young again. See you in ur nightmares!— Zack Ward (@TotalZackWard) August 24, 2019
I love Robert Englund and I love Zach. Perfect choice in my eyes. The whole Kevin Bacon thing? 🤷🏻♀️ Weird to me— ⚜ Apryl with a Y™ ⚜️ WhoDat! (@Loves_AMH) August 22, 2019
Well now, that is an interesting opinion. Kevin, who got his big break in the horror genre, playing the role of Jack Burrell in the original 1980 Friday the 13th is no stranger to scaring the living daylights out of the audience.
Englund isn't the only original star who would love to star in a sequel. Heather Langenkamp, who played the role of Nancy in the first two 'Nightmare on Elm Street' movies and has been part of several other flicks, also expressed her interest in returning to the franchise.
