The new project is said to be a standalone, female-driven film.
A Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Jack Sparrow? Sorry, we mean, CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. It just wouldn't be the same now, would it? Margot Robbie is in early talks for a female-driven Pirates of the Caribbean movie at Disney, reports Deadline. It won't be a spin-off or sequel, but rather a stand-alone film. Robbie's Pirates will feature new characters but fans want to see one old character back on the screen. Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp.
Very happy for Margot Robbie on landing the Pirates of the Caribbean movie! She’s gonna kill it!— Vincent Marcus (@VincentMarcus) June 26, 2020
But can we agree that Johnny Depp should still play Jack Sparrow because his lying ass ex wife fabricated stories about being abused and almost ruined his life?
Original screenwriter Stuart Beattie had previously told DailyMail TV that Depp's time as the iconic character was over. "I think he’s had a great run," he said. "Obviously, he’s made that character his own, and it’s become the thing that he’s most famous for now. And kids all over the world love him as that character, so I think it’s been great for him. It’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it." Beattie added, "I think Jack Sparrow will be his legacy. It's the only character he's played five times, it's the character he dresses up in to visit children in hospitals, it's what he'll be remembered for." The actor has also been facing a lot of personal issues having even filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard to the tune of $50 million for claiming he had abused her. The 57-year-old played Captain Jack Sparrow in five films over 15 years in the Disney franchise, the most recent being 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Pirates of the Carribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales ( btw great title ).— Darragh loves TDK Trilogy #BlackLivesMatter (@Darragh_Scanlon) July 24, 2020
Overall I liked this movie . I enjoyed some of the first act but not much beyond that and then the third act absolutely saves this movie and I loved the final few minutes they were great . Overall good movie pic.twitter.com/nu28efs0H2
The actor even donned the role of the charismatic pirate while visiting children's hospitals. According to ABC News, he visited patients at the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver in 2017. As part of a Pirate Party, the actor was seen shaking hands with and hugging kids."I have no sword, I come in peace," Depp joked. Not once did he break character in the five-hour visit.
It's no wonder the pirate has won many hearts both on and off-screen. There's even a petition to get the actor back into his pirate boots. The petition, which has over 211,581 signatures as of now, reads: Johnny Depp has been out recently as Captain Jack Sparrow. One of the reasons is his personal issues as well. He has been playing this role since 2003 when we first saw him arriving at the Port Royal in his boat with that epic background music playing. But can you imagine someone else portraying this instead of him? Or no Jack Sparrow at all? Disney is rebooting Dead Men Tell No Tales because of its box office but don't they know that without Johnny Depp or Jack Sparrow they will sink, they will never be able to reach that horizon they are looking for. Even if it means nothing to you but please, sign this petition for the ones who REALLY want Johnny Depp as their Captain of the Black Pearl! They have to bring him back to rule the seas again or we will never watch any Pirates of the Caribbean movie without our Captain.

He’s one of the very few actors we have in the world who is actually irreplaceable. I can tell the studio is trying but it’s a recipe for failure. Sorry not sorry. Go Johnny or go home.— 𝚂. 𝙰𝚔𝚎𝚒𝚛𝚊 (@ReelAkeira) June 26, 2020
It's not about Margot Robbie. It's about Johnny Depp losing his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow role because Amber Heard falsely accused him of abuse.— Aurora | #BlackLivesMatter (@MsAuroraGilmore) June 26, 2020
...she abused him.
Despite this, he continues visiting sick children, as Jack Sparrow, to cheer them up.
Johnny deserves better.
Bring back to us our beloved Captain Jack Sparrow. Without him your pile of shit that you have the nerve to call a "movie", will flop hard. #NoJohnnyNoPirates #BringBackCaptainJack #JusticeForJohnnyDepp pic.twitter.com/ZmlVep41kG— ✂️Lonely Path to be Different🐺 (@DeppheadLT) May 6, 2020
