It was way back in February 2018 when Walt Disney Pictures announced that they were developing a live-action remake of 'Lady and the Tramp'. And now, just months before the movie is set for release, we have a chance to get a first look at the real-life rescue dogs from the upcoming film and their charming voice actors.

Just so you know, the entire live-cast are dogs, with a star-studded cast who are voicing them. The protagonists 'Lady' and 'Tramp' are voiced by Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux respectively. Thompson is well-known for her role as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame and animal rights advocate Theroux who starred in the 2001 neo-noir mystery masterpiece Mullholand Drive.

'Lady' is played on-screen by 'Rose', the most adorable cocker spaniel you've ever seen. Her wonderful fluffy ears, resemble her animated counterpart perfectly. As for 'Tramp', he will be portrayed by a Terrier named 'Monte. Monte was rescued from a kill-shelter in New Mexico before he was transferred to a shelter in Arizona.

Disney said that 'Lady and the Tramp' (2019), much like the original from 1955,  is going to be a story of many romantic adventures shared between an upper-middle-class American cocker spaniel named Lady (Tessa Thompson) and a streetsmart, downtown stray mongrel called the Tramp (Justin Theroux).

And yes, in case you were wondering, the iconic spaghetti smooch scene is there in the upcoming movie too!

The movie is directed by Charlie Bean, who is known for his work on Tron: Uprising as a director and executive producer. The live-action film will also feature a number of other big names, including Sam Elliot as 'Trusty', Ashley Jensen as 'Jock', Janelle Monáe as 'Peg' and Benedict Wong as 'Bull'.

These animals are sure to rock the screen as they have been training extensively for several months prior to the start of filming to ensure that everything goes according to plan. It's not always easy to work with a lot of animals in a live-action or a motion picture.

Disney might just have their work cut out of them if they plan on making more of their 20th-century classics into live-action movies. But hey, we sure as heck aren't going to mind that! From Beauty and the Beast to Cinderella; the Jungle Book to Christopher Robin, many of Disney's most beloved characters have gotten a big revamp on their return to the big screen.

And just in this year alone, we've seen The Lion King, Aladdin, and Dumbo all hit cinemas. No doubt the release of 'Lady and the Tramp' is also of quite some significance as it is Disney's first movie to be launched along with their Disney+ streaming channel.
