Alan Lawrence decided to put his son, Rockwell, in a cute Christmas ensemble and took pictures of him around the house getting up to a lot of mischief.
You can either love or hate the "Elf on the Shelf" concept but you just cannot ignore it. As a child especially because how would you ignore the Christmas decor that would determine whether you made it to the nice or naughty list. But as you grow old you may start to realize how creepy it actually was for en elf to watch over you. But one dad took this concept and made it so adorable that it is something that you just can't ignore. If there is one elf we would not mind chilling on our shelves it's this little guy.
Utah photographer Alan Lawrence decided to bring the elf to life in the form of his then four-month-old son. "We’ve always just kinda called him our little elf,' Lawrence told NBC News about his son. The father of six decided to put his son, Rockwell, in a cute Christmas ensemble and took pictures of him around the house. Just as the Elf on the Shelf would follow you around the house, little Rockwell followed his dad around causing mischief as well. "All of our friends do the Elf on the Shelf and I've always thought it was sort of creepy, but sort of fun — this idea of an elf coming to live in your home and moving around to different places," Lawrence stated.
He told TODAY, "And I'm like, what if it was a real elf? And of course, being parents, we already have the cutest little 4-month-old. So we decided to make a fun series." His wife made the cute outfit for the baby with supplies from the fabric store. "When she was done, I was like, 'Are you kidding me?! This is better than I thought!'" Lawrence said. As you can see in the pictures, the baby looks like he is perched precariously in dangerous locations. But not to worry, Lawrence poses with his son for the photos but then edits himself out. So it's well-managed mischief.
He shared a funny backstory of how the little elf came into their lives on his blog. "Around the 1st of December, a random Christmas elf showed up in our family room. At first, I was alarmed and told the kids to stay in their rooms while I tried to figure out what was going on. I was going to call the police but my wife told me I was overreacting," it read. He continued, "I feel about a small stranger in red tights wandering around my home at night watching my kids. I want to be positive about this but it makes me nervous. I've decided to allow him to stay (I don’t think I really have a choice) but I am keeping a close eye on him and have decided to document his activity while he is living here. I will continue to add days to this post until he decides to return home to the North Pole."
He then included the pictures of how this little elf got up to a lot of mischief during his stay in their house. The results were absolutely hilarious and adorable results.
