Sam Murphy's son Carter wanted to meet his icon Jason Voorhees for his birthday and his dad actually made it happen.
As children, all of us had the dream to meet the person we admire the most. Some of us wanted to meet Santa Claus and others wanted to meet their favorite actors, but Sam Murphy's son has a very different dream. Carter wanted to meet his favorite person too, but his dream was pretty different from us. When he told his father that he wants to meet Jason Voorhees for his birthday, his dad actually made it happen.
As reported by GeorgeTakei.com, Sam hired a local special effects artist to play the role of the infamous Friday the 13th villain Jason Voorhees and he had to pick Carter from school on his birthday. Sam said, "I spoke to the school about it and they said they didn't want Jason waiting at the school gates so he had to be round the corner. It was quite a nice experience, he was walking down the street holding hands with Jason. He has issues with touching, he won't hold my hand."
The role of Voorhees was played by local make-up and special effects expert Tony Gartland and he did a pretty good job of making himself look like the iconic villain. It happened on January 30 and it was filmed by Sam himself. He added, "Carter hasn't shut up about it, Jason gave him a t-shirt and he hasn't taken it off since. I can't get it in the wash. Jason came into the house with his shoes on and Carter said, 'dad, Jason left his shoes on' and I replied, 'well, I'm not telling him to take them off.'"
He continued, "They went to his bedroom and Carter was showing all his favorite toys, he showed him everything. Carter then brought Jason downstairs and then he had to go, and I said we'd drop him off in the city center so he could go on a killing spree. Carter was so excited, he hasn't stopped speaking about it since. Tony didn't break character once, he was great." Tony, who lives in Saltash, Cornwall works on special effects and t-shirt printing business and has a lot of experience with costume make-up, masks, and costumes.
Gartland said that he has always been a fan of anything horror and he has even been a part of a few horror conventions where he played the role of Jason Voorhees.
