Meet Bart, The 'Zombie' Cat Who Clawed His Way Back To Life Days After Being Buried

Stephen King fans, does this sound familiar?

If you are a fan of Stephen King's work, then you must have read Pet Sematary. The story revolves around a family that encounters a pet cemetery. But it was no ordinary burial ground. If you bury your pets in that cemetery, they come back to life. But the dead can never be the same as the living now, can they? Something similar happened in Florida when a 'dead' cat named Bart came back to life 5 days after being buried.

A feline from Florida has defied all odds and clawed his way out of the grave. According to a report by ABC, the cat's owner said that his pet 'died' after he was hit by a car. But Bart the cat decided that it's not his time to leave yet and came back after being buried for five days. Bart recovered from a broken jaw and facial injuries, said Humane Society of Tampa Bay, and he also had to undergo surgery. In fact, one of his eyes was so badly damaged it had to be removed.

The Humane Society rightfully called Bart a 'miracle' cat and the entire ordeal has also earned him the nickname 'Zombie' cat on social media. Bart's owner Ellis Hutson said, "I was so shocked. I didn’t know really what to do." The Humane Society of Tampa also wrote on their website, "We have seen many amazing cases at our full-service veterinary clinic, but this situation may take the cake."

Bart's human said that he found his feline friend in the middle of the road, 'lifeless' in a puddle of blood. Heartbroken, Hutson asked his friend to bury his 23-month-old cat. Hutson said, "We were so close, I couldn’t stand to bury him. I put him on the shoulder of the road and went and got David. He dug a hole and covered up the cat with dirt. I witnessed him bury the cat."

After five days, Bart was found alive on their neighbor's yard, weak, and dehydrated, and in immediate need of medical attention.

Hutson added, "I open the door and my neighbor's standing there with the cat in her hand. She said, 'Bart is not dead.' I said, 'That’s impossible. We buried Bart.' This is unbelievable. I don’t have any explanation for it." Bart's surgery cost came up to $2000 and the entire cost was taken care of by Hutson. Her neighbor Dusty Albritton started a GoFundMe page to raise money for the cat’s medical expenses.

Albritton said, "I saw him with my own eyes. I know he was dead. He was cold and stiff. We figured he was hit by the same car. Now my kids believe their cat will also rise from the dead. But I told them I don't think so." When she discovered the resurrected cat, Bart acted as if nothing had happened. She said, "The only thing I can think of is that this is God’s miracle. And I thought, why five days later? If Bart was alive before, he would have come to our homes earlier. All I can think of is that God created animal life on the fifth day.“
