Bruce Campbell Confirms He Won't Return To The 'Evil Dead' Franchise Ever Again

"I’m not gonna put the chainsaw back on. It’s done, you know," Bruce Campbell said, confirming he is done with Evil Dead movies for good.

We have all grown up watching Bruce Campbell right from the first Evil Dead movie that surely gave most of us -- a lot of sleepless nights. For decades, he was the face of the iconic horror franchise and now, here's an announcement that is surely going to make quite a few of us, emotional and teary-eyed perhaps.

Well, looks like Campbell is done with the Evil Dead franchise and says he won't return for any future remakes henceforth. As terrible as it feels, but come on, this legendary actor has given us some of the scariest horror movies and it is about time he gets a rest from destroying minions spawned from hell.

While speaking to an exclusive interview for Screengeek, the horror icon said: "The only thing that is consistent is I’m not gonna put the chainsaw back on. It’s done, you know. We don’t wanna get what I call “The Star Wars” factor here. I’m leaning over a walker and it’s painted green for they can remove it from the show. I think you know what I’m talking about. There comes a time, it’s time. Because of Ash Vs. Evil Dead, we put everything on the table. We put everything on. We got—I got nothing to give. It’s all right there."

Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end. And looks like we finally have to say goodbye to our favorite chainsaw-wielding zombie slayer. But all's not lost -- there's a silver lining here.

Evil Dead had paved the way for two sequels, a remake, many video games, and three seasons of the epic TV series 'Ash vs. Evil Dead.' And recently, filmmaker Sam Raimi said that there might just be another Evil Dead movie on the cards!

“I’d love to make another one. I don’t think TV is in its future but we’re talking about – Bruce, Rob, and myself – one or two different ways to go for the next movie,” Raimi spoke to Bloody Disgusting. “We’d like to make another Evil Dead feature and in fact we’re working on some ideas right now.”

“I would be thrilled if Bruce Campbell changed his mind about retirement, would come back for the original Evil Dead line,” Raimi said. “But if not, I’m very happy to work with, if Fede [Álvarez] would come back and make the sequel… but he’s such a big shot now. He’s so successful, an artist in demand, that I don’t think he’d want to do that. So I think you may see some action on the Evil Dead movie in the next six months,” Raimi concluded.

Would you be watching an Evil Dead movie without Bruce Campbell on it? Let us know what you think.
