'Are You Afraid Of The Dark?' Is Getting A Reboot, And 'Midnight Society' Is Coming BACK

Nickelodeon is reviving the classic horror anthology show and the new cast for the creepy reboot has been announced.

The rumors were true! Are You Afraid of The Dark? is returning and making a come back! If you are a 90's kid you already know what a big deal the show used to be and how everybody loved it! I mean, when it comes to making our childhood better, Nickelodeon has played a vital part but there's no denying that 'Are You Afraid of The Dark?' was and still is one of the most amazing original shows ever. Now, decades after the show initially had aired, Nickelodeon is reviving the horror anthology show and giving it a reboot!

According to Deadline, the channel is reimagining the popular show to suit the current audience while still sticking to its horror roots. The limited series is set to premiere this Halloween and the cast includes the likes of  Sam Ashe Arnold from Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever., Miya Cech from Rim of the World, Tamara Smart from The Worst Witch, Jeremy Taylor from It, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, Lyliana Wray, and Rafael Casal from Blindspotting.

The mini-series will only have three episodes, each an hour long, written by Ben David Grabinski and directed by Dean Israelite, who also helmed the Power Rangers movie. The show will feature an all-new group of kids telling creepy stories to each other as the new Midnight Society, following the same format as the original. The show will have new terrifying tales and we cannot wait to hear them out!

The original show created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel, gained crazy popularity in the 90s and became every kid's worst nightmare. The show was a major critical and commercial success and keeping in mind the popularity of the iconic show, the network rebooted the series and Are You Afraid of the Dark was released again in 1999.

The rebooted show followed a similar pattern like the original but had a different cast, directors, and writers and it quite didn't succeed to impress the longtime fans of the series. The reboot was canceled in 2000.

Now, after 19 years, Nickelodeon has decided to reboot the show once again but this time, they'll rectify the mistakes they made. Fans complained that the reboot didn't live up to the standards of the original show set and messed up the format so this time they are sticking to the roots of the OG series.

In fact, in addition to the TV reboot, it was also announced that the show was also getting its own movie but was recently canceled.

The movie adaptation of the famous 90s show was all set to release this Halloween. But it seems like it's no longer happening. In fact, the movie doesn't have a release date AT ALL! Not in December, not next year, not anytime soon!

Paramount has dropped the movie for the year and we are seriously DISAPPOINTED! "Paramount release date announcements: ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK?, previously slated for 10/4/19, now has no release date #AreYouAfraidoftheDark," tweeted BoxOffice breaking hearts. But well, at least we have the reboot. Will you be watching?
