There Could Be More 'Tucker & Dale Vs Evil' Happening With The Original Cast

Here's everything we know so far.

If the horror movies during the 90s completely depended on the shock value, there were some movies in the 2000s which tested waters with the addition of comedy element in the horror. That turned out to be quite a successful formula for some movies and we have been treated to a number of good horror-comedies in the last 20 years. Tucker and Dale vs Evil is one such horror-comedy that left a mark with the audience.

The 2010 movie was written and directed by Eli Craig and it starred Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine as two friends whose backwood vacation soon becomes a bloodbath when a bunch of college students mistakes them for a pair of murderous hillbillies. The movie was a hit with the audience and ever since then, fans have been demanding a sequel. According to a report by Movieweb, it looks like a follow-up is in the works.

In an interview, when Labine was talking about his hit movie Escape Room, he dropped some hints that there is a possibility we might get to see a Tucker and Dale vs Evil in the near future. He said, "Yes. We're working on something right now. I wouldn't call it a film sequel, but the story is not done being told. I can't really tell you much, but we're in development with a couple of things right now."

He continued, "Things are looking pretty good. Alan [Tudyk] and I are both still on board, along with Eli [Craig, director/co-writer]. We're just trying to line up a few pieces. It's just a matter of timing. We're going to get something to the fans because that's really the only reason we want to do it. No one's getting rich off this thing. [laughs] Alan and I have always been like, 'Whatever we do has to be for the people that stuck with it and made it what it is.' That's all the fans. Hopefully, something will come to fruition."

Apart from this wonderful news, Labine provided some insights about the follow-up, saying, "I think it was totally fresh. We hadn't seen a ton of horror-comedy - 'horromedy', as I call it - like that that had been executed that well. I think Eli and Morgan [Jurgenson], the writers of the movie, did something that every one after they watched it, was like, 'Why haven't I thought of that?' or 'Why haven't I seen that before? That was so obvious and ripe for the picking!' But they did it first. I think it really stands out and has lasted the test of time because it was a very original piece. That makes something timeless."

Eli Craig, the director and co-writer of the movie, has given us movies like Space Cowboys, Little Evil, and Fast Money, to name a few. The movie is produced by Morgan Jurgenson, Albert Klychak, Rosanne Milliken, and Deepak Nayar. Jurgenson also co-wrote the script with Craig. Along with Tudyk and Labine, the movie also stars Katrina Bowden, Jesse Moss, Chelan Simmons, Philip Granger, Jay McLaren, Christie Laing, Chelan Simmons, and Travis Nelson.
