"I am only here because of you," the Pirates of the Caribbean star wrote.
In a recent video uploaded on Instagram, actor Johnny Depp thanked his fans for their "constant and loyal support" through all the troubles he had been facing over the recent years. The Pirates of the Caribbean star has been enduring a truly arduous period in his career ever since the divorce battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard came to light. His public image was devastated initially over the serious allegations of him assaulting Heard, but several of those claims have since been refuted and his reputation has been made better through various defamation lawsuits.
I’m seeing allot of discussion re Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard divorce settlement— TheRealLauraB🌊⚔️ (@LauraBockov) September 15, 2020
Both parties were legally represented and had the option for forensic accounting$ (Pitt vs Angie) or a simplified mutual settlement. Both Depp/Heard parties chose a mutually agreed settlement. pic.twitter.com/Vl0Eh610MV
So in the quirky new video, the Pirates star pens a letter to his fans whilst relaxing in his study. The words written by Depp were also posted on the caption. “Hello All! I just wanted to thank you all once again for your constant and loyal support throughout many long and interesting episodes of my life… I am only here because of you — and I’m only here for you!!! All thanks and love to you for all, JD.”
The actor joined social media only this April in order to reach out to his fans at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. During that time, he had released a cover of John Lennon's "Isolation" (how fitting) with famous guitarist Jeff Beck. He said: "I don’t think I’ve really ever felt any particular reason to (join social media) until now. Nows the time to open up a dialogue, as the threat of this invisible enemy has already caused immeasurable tragedies and damage to people’s lives.” He continued, "We cannot and must not succumb to shutting down and giving in to what feels like hellish quarantine monotony. Create something today that will benefit yourselves and others tomorrow. Do anything you think could be of use to brighten someone’s day. Draw, read, paint, think, learn, make a film on your phone, play an instrument if you play; if you don’t, learn.”
Before that, in early May, Depp sent a special thank you message to all of his fans who stood by him during his intense legal battle with Heard. Depp, within an hour of joining Instagram, had a following of one million. He shared an eight-minute video that appeared to have been filmed in a candle-lit cave. The setting for the video was on point since Depp is a member of this band called The Hollywood Vampires. The caption for his video simply read, "Sending you all my love and thank you for staying on this long road with me. JD."
Ever since then, he has been using Instagram regularly and sharing new videos to interact with his fans as well as promote his latest and upcoming projects. Not too long ago, he followed up his original post with a shout-out to fans in the UK that his new movies 'Waiting for the Barbarians' starring Mark Rylance and Robert Pattinson is going to hit cinemas. Looking at his upcoming features, we are most excited about his return as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts part 3. Depp had recently applied to shift his upcoming court case with Heard to next year's Spring or Summer so as to avoid any clashes with filming. However, Heard had refused to allow for any delays, claiming that it clashes with her own commitments to Aquaman 2.
