A New Netflix Video Reveals How The Monsters In 'Army of the Dead' and 'The Ritual' Are Created

Did you know that the zombie tiger in 'Army of the Dead' was a stuntman in a suit?

Us horror fans love getting behind-the-scenes glimpses at the special effects artistry that makes our favorite monsters so scarifying. From documentaries on the gore effects of 1980s slasher movies to features on the rise of CGI creatures, we love to get an insider's view into how the magic happens. Well, for fans of Netflix originals, there's a new video out for you.

Titled “What These Netflix Monsters Look Like Without Special Effects,” the video takes you behind the scenes of movies including Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead and David Bruckner’s The Ritual. The video peels back the layers of post-production to show what the actors were interacting with on-set.

“These days, so many of the movies you see in theaters and on streaming are filled with special effects. Thanks to VFX technology, entire new worlds of storytelling are open to filmmakers, allowing them to create movies that grab your imagination and hold on tight,” Netflix explains.

“Special effects often take care of the bulk of superhero adventures, sci-fi thrillers, and yes – even the terrifying monsters that give you nightmares. If you’ve ever wondered what the insane monsters in Netflix movies look like before all that digital wizardry, look no further.”
