As expected, the upcoming Netflix series will take place in the Mattel toy inspired-world and will focus on unresolved storylines from the iconic '80s show.
For someone who has often been touted 'The Most Powerful Man In The Universe', you know he definitely deserves a Netflix series for himself. And who better to bring 'He-Man' movie rather than Kevin Smith who surprised fans during Sunday’s annual Power-Con convention by making it official that there is a new animated “He-Man” series heading to Netflix pretty soon. As reported by Variety.
Titled “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” the animated series will bring back all our '80s nostalgic memories to reality. As expected, the upcoming series will happen in the Mattel toy inspired-world and will focus on unresolved storylines from the iconic show.
"I'm Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull but also their entire Universe," Smith, who will serve as showrunner and executive producer, said in a statement. "In Revelation, we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! ... This is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!"

— Deadline Hollywood (DEADLINE) August 18, 2019
The show will be produced by Mattel Television along with executive producer Rob David. He is the vice president of Mattel TV and also the author of “He-Man: The Eternity War.” David also recently spoke about how He-Man is still hugely popular despite not being on the small screen or the big screen as often as the other superheroes from the past.
“Masters of the Universe’ has been a cultural phenomenon for generations, inspiring fans to discover their own power within,” David said. “Fans of this franchise have been waiting for the continuation of these characters, and Kevin Smith, as a ‘Masters’ superfan himself, is the perfect champion and partner to expand the canon through a dynamic animated series on Netflix.”
According to the Variety report, the show writers include Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen), Diya Mishra (Magic The Gathering) and Marc Bernardin (Alphas). “Castlevania’s” Powerhouse Animation is helming the animation for the Netflix series.
And now moving away from Netflix, Sony Pictures and Mattel Films are now set to release a new "Masters of the Universe" movie on March 5, 2021. The movie, starring Noah Centineo, will be based on the 1980s action figures that had paved the way for an animated TV show and a 1987 feature film with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man.
Earlier it was reported that the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie was going to be released in theatres this Christmas season, however, it has now been pushed back to the spring of 2021. Although not many details have been revealed about the movie, Noah Centineo will be playing the role of Prince Adam in the upcoming adaptation of the ‘80s toy icon known for his bulky ripped image and his blonde bob cut hair. He-Man is supposedly the heir to the throne of Eternia.
