The Sanderson sisters are coming to cast a spell on all of us in this bar
It's October, and we can feel the spook in the air. The air is crispier and people all around us are gearing up to celebrate Halloween as safely as they can. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt that Hocus Pocus is my absolute favorite Halloween movie. The spell that the Sanderson sisters cast on us back in 1993 still is in full effect and the witchy sisters are as popular as ever.
For select dates in October, Main Street Social will transform into a bar with décor, drinks and food inspired by the 1993 Halloween flick "Hocus Pocus," which starred Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker. https://t.co/ZY0IPYhb47— Newsday (@Newsday) October 12, 2020
According to Newsday, a pop-up bar themed around the favorite Halloween movie is coming up in Farmingdale and we are absolutely stoked! Described as a pop-up experience you will never forget, this bar will make you feel as if you've stepped inside the Sanderson sisters' spooky world. On some select dates in October, the Main Street Social, which is an event pop-up space, will transform into a bar with décor, drinks, and food inspired by the 1993 Halloween flick that starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.
Mike Marra, president of the Unique Social Events company and creator of the "Witch Craft" Halloween pop-up bar said, "Being a big movie fan, there's always that one favorite movie during a specific time of year. During Halloween, almost everyone loves the movie 'Hocus Pocus.'" The event will take place on October 16-18, October 21-25, and October 28 to November 1.
Every seating is of two hours in length but the capacity of the people is limited because of COVID-19. The event will take place indoors. Marra added, "Our first and foremost priority is the health of our customers and staff. Tables will be spread apart with everyone required to wear masks, other than when seated to eat. Hand sanitizers will be provided at all tables as well."
The pop-up bar menu consists of a selection of seasonal small plate options — such as pumpkin risotto balls and fall crostini, which is crostini topped with brie cheese, locally grown apples, and honey. Additionally, there will be both witchcraft-themed cocktails and mocktails, and some of them will have mist reminiscent of a bubbling cauldron. Coming to the decor, the entire pop bar will be covered with Halloween decorations and props related to the movie. Guests who will come on Friday and Saturday will be greeted with a trio of performing Sanderson sisters. Marra added, "Our expectations are to provide a fun option for people to do this Halloween. We saw this as an opportunity to provide a 'celebration' but to make it an experience, all while keeping it in a safe environment."
Hocus Pocus is a 1993 American horror-fantasy-comedy film directed by Kenny Ortega and stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as three Salem witches who were resurrected by a teenage boy on Halloween night. The synopsis of the movie reads: "Three witches resurrect after 300 years to exact revenge and begin a reign of terror after Max, a young boy who moves to Salem with his family, lights a cursed Candle of Black Flame."
