'A Christmas Carol' Is Being Adapted Into A TV Series And Coming This December

Charles Dickens' famous work 'A Christmas Carol' is being adapted into a mini TV series and things are going to take a darker turn this time.

Adapting Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol into movies, short films, or stage shows isn't anything new, we have tonnes of movies out there based on the classic but then again, Christmas Carol is such a popular gem, that Hollywood knows if they do something around it, it will definitely work.

This time, the timeless story is being adapted into a mini TV-series and with a twist! FX, the home of American Horror Story, is working on the TV reboot which is going to take a darker turn!

According to Deadline,  the TV series will be a three-part and is getting produced by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, Tom Hardy’s Hardy Son & Baker along with FX Productions. The show was announced to be in the making back in 2017 by BBC and is expected to release this Christmas season.

As per the cast, Guy Pearce is playing Ebenezer Scrooge, Andy Serkis is Ghost of Christmas Past, Stephen Graham as Jacob Marley, Charlotte Riley is Lottie, Joe Alwyn is Bob Cratchit, Vinette Robinson as Mary Cratchit, Rutger Hauer as the Ghost of Christmas Future, Kayvan Novak as Ali Baba and Lenny Rush as Tim Cratchit.

For the series, FX is twisting things a bit and reimagining the classic story with a darker turn. The creator of Peaky Blinders is penning down the modern version of Christmas Carol and Nick Murphy of The Awakening is helming the direction for the TV show.

Julian Stevens is producing and a lot of big names are serving as executive producers namely Dean Baker, David W. Zucker, Kate Crowe, and Mona Qureshi, and of course Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott and Knight himself.

“Charles Dickens’ classics, including A Christmas Carol, are timeless tales that have been reimagined generation after generation. We couldn’t imagine a better team to undertake this enormous task than Steven Knight, Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, and their formidable production companies.”

Knight also added saying some words about the upcoming TV show and assuring the fans of the classic that justice will be done to the original, “This production of A Christmas Carol will respectfully present what we believe to be a timely interpretation of a timeless story.”

The rest of the cast and the official release date of the miniseries is yet to be officially announced. But, since the show is most probably coming in December, we believe we will get a trailer soon. Watch out this space for updates! Will you be watching the FX series?
