It's Official: '9-1-1' Has Been Renewed For Season 3 And It's Coming This September

FOX has renewed the Angela Bassett starrer Ryan Murphy show once again and all our favorite first responders are returning to resume their roles!

"9-1-1, what's your emergency?" FOX has stepped up and renewed the classic procedural drama television series for its third season with the original cast and my heart just skipped a beat! Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, the trio behind almost all good shows out there, 9-1-1 season 3 is officially happening!

“9-1-1 redefined what a procedural series can be, consistently delivering edge-of-your-seat emergencies, mixed with emotional story arcs and incredible performances from one of the most powerful teams of actors on television," Fox Entertainment's President Michael Thorn announced the show's renewal in a statement.

Premiered first in January last year, 9-1-1 became an instant hit and the most watched show on the network! Starring Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Rockmond Dunbar, Connie Britton, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ryan Guzman, the show revolved around the lives of Los Angeles' brave first responders - firefighters, police officers, paramedics, dispatchers and of course, it won hearts worldwide.

"Kudos to Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, Tim Minear and their entire crew, as well as the amazing cast anchored by Angela Bassett, Peter Krause and Jennifer Love Hewitt for raising the bar week after week," Thorn praised the amazing team behind 9-1-1 and why wouldn't he?

The show is the network's most watched and highest rated with a viewership of more than 15.4 million, as reported by Deadline.

Season 3 will feature all the original cast except Connie who left the show right after season one, sorry Buck. But then again, she isn't denying the possibility of someday returning to the show. "It’s always possible!" Britton told The Wrap when asked about her returning plans.

"It’s always possible. And, you know, in the world of Ryan Murphy I’m usually pretty quick to say yes because I adore him and I adore working with and he always puts together such a great group of people. So we shall see." Britton and Ryan previously worked together on American Horror Story's first season Murder House.

And well, Buck is as hopeful for Abby's return as we are. "I understand that she's very busy, but she had a lot of fun on the show, I know that is also true, and obviously has a great relationship with our writers and everything, so yeah I have my fingers crossed," Oliver Stark revealed.

9-1-1 is all set to premiere on Monday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. E.T. on FOX, mark your calendars. Also, the show is already such a huge success that FOX is working on a spin-off as well titled 9-1-1: Lone Star, ready to hit the small screens next year. The spin-off will star Rob Lowe from Parks & Rec and Code Black.

"The beauty of having a hit drama like 9-1-1 from the genius minds of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear is it allows you to explore thrilling stories as told through an array of distinctive characters," Thorn spilled some beans about the upcoming spin-off.

"In 9-1-1: Lone Star, they’ve given us a special opportunity to expand the franchise into new territory – literally and figuratively — and we’re thrilled to have the incomparable Rob Lowe headline this new iteration when it joins our schedule next season." Are you excited for season 3 and the spin-off?
