Freeform's 31 Nights of Halloween Is Back And It Will Air 'Hocus Pocus' A Record 27 Times

Freeform has released its annual '31 Night of Halloween' featuring many classics that will get you in the mood for the festival.

The eager wait for Halloween is getting closer with each passing day and I can feel the excitement in my bones! What better way to get in the mood of Halloween than to do a movie marathon of spooky movies accompanied by eery background scores that are guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.

Freeform, our favorite channel every Halloween, has released the schedule for its annual '31 Nights of Halloween'. For those of you unaware of the tradition, the network picks and chooses scary Halloween-themed movies to be aired on every night in the month of October to set the mood for Halloween. As always, Freeform has a great line up, so let's look at some of the movies that will be aired in the run-up to the spooky festival. So, go ahead and grab your bag of popcorn, but only if you can hold on to it during what is sure to be a spooky ride.

What's Halloween without The Addams Family? The ghoulish family that lives in a Gothic mansion seems fresh every time you watch. The spooky movie has great performances from Anjelica Huston, as the mother, Morticia, and Raul Julia, who plays the role of Morticia's husband. The chemistry between the pair is electric and involves some really spooky, and some hilarious scenes as well. A young Christina Ricci plays the daughter of the Addams Family. The family lives right next to their graveyard where nothing grows but dead things. The movie was a box office hit and is sure to get you all spooked for Halloween. Freeform has many reruns of this Halloween classic including Addams Family Values.

Another classic that's synonymous with Christmas is Hocus Pocus.  Witches, Brooms, vacuum cleaners, curses, and an immortal cat; what's not to like. Hocus Pocus tells the story of three witches who were hanged in Salem more than 300 years ago. The three witches, played by Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem on Halloween in present-day America. The witches then plot to suck out the souls of all of Salem's children. This instant classic will give you the spooks while also entertaining you. The cult classic 'Hocus Pocus' will also air a record 27 times.

Tim Burton's movies are a staple of the spooky festival and this year is no different. Freeform has Burton specials lined up including Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas. Burton tells both stories in his trademark quirky style. Edward Scissorhands, played by a young Johnny Depp, is an unfinished work of a mad inventor and has scissor blades for hands making it very inconvenient. He ends up shredding everything he touched and his face is full of scars. The movie also features Winona Ryder who has deep feelings for Edward.

Burton's Corpse Bride, another classic, is a sweet tale of love lost. Victor, the lead character voiced by Burton favorite, Johnny Depp, accidentally marries a corpse, who was murdered on the eve of her wedding. It has all the elements of a Halloween classic and will surely set the macabre mood for the festival.
