The 1999 film is a treasure trove of funny moments and the memes are even funnier.
Love movies of the undead rising? Add some hot actors, a pretty interesting history-based storyline, with cool effects ( for the time!) and you've got yourself a cult classic. The Mummy is a remake of the 1932 Universal monster film of the same name. The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser was one of the biggest hits of summer 1999 and grew into two sequels and a spinoff franchise. The 1999 version features Rachel Weisz, Brendan Fraser, John Hannah, Kevin J. O'Connor, and Arnold Vosloo. The film had a bit of everything: action, romance, horror, adventure and even bits of comedy! We particularly like the lead pair.
Brendan Fraser's Rick O'Connell was not a stereotypical action he-man stereotype, but he also had a fun, silly side to him. Rachel Weisz's Evelyn Carnahan O' Connell was no damsel in distress. She was a badass in her own right, witty, charming, and adventurous all while being bookishly smart. We'd love to see the pair return on screen. In fact, Brendan Fraser recently admitted that he is totally up for another The Mummy film, as long as it has all the 'essential ingredients'. According to Cinema Blend, he said, "Absolutely! Just gotta say, I know how hard it is to make that movie. I tried to do it three times, and the essential ingredient is fun. You gotta remember to have fun. So if there’s a fun way to approach it again, I’m all in." If you're looking to rewatch the film, here's a look at some funny memes that might help jog your memory a bit.
