A company is offering $1,000 and other rewards for one superfan to watch 25 hours of the show to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Is your idea of the perfect weekend just staying in and watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S reruns on your couch? Well, one company is offering you the chance to turn your weekend watching into a paying job. To mark the 25th anniversary of the landmark NBC comedy, telecommunications company Frontier Communications wants one super fan to binge-watch the show for 25 hours (that's around 60 episodes) and live-tweet it. That's it.
No strings. In return, you get paid $1000 and a 12-month Netflix subscription, NBC New York reports, and you can do it all right from the comfort of your own couch (or, if you're a VERY huge F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan, probably a leather recliner a la Chandler and Joey). You’ll also receive a F.R.I.E.N.D.S Fandom Fun Pack consisting of a F.R.I.E.N.D.S t-shirt, Central Perk mug, popcorn, and assorted treats that you can partake of during your next binge-watch, because, let's face it, there's going to be a next binge-watch.
"This job is for any self-proclaimed die-hard F.R.I.E.N.D.S superfan looking to prove their salt. We’re in search of the ones who know the quotes (“PIVOT!!”), the hilarious scenarios (the beef in the trifle; the Holiday Armadillo), and all the little details (exactly how many sisters does Joey have? What is Chandler’s job?) that make the show the tried and true classic it is," says the application on Frontier Communications' website.
"Our F.R.I.E.N.D.S fan must also be an organized, detail-oriented individual. It helps to have an active Twitter account and following, as you’ll be required to tweet throughout the challenge." The company explained its reasoning for the challenge, saying, "From the day it premiered, F.R.I.E.N.D.S was a cultural phenomenon, and we want to see if that legacy holds up.
Think of this dream job as an easy way to make some quick cash while simultaneously feeding your nostalgia for the ultimate squad that took the ’90s and early ’00s by storm." All you have to do if chosen is watch 25 hours of the show before September 22, and live-tweet as you work your way through it. Then, celebrate September 22, the premiere date of the show, with a bunch of IRL friends and tweet a picture of your festivities! That's it! Doesn't it sound almost too good to be true?
The only requirements to participate are that you must be a U.S citizen or permanent resident who is over 18 years of age. All you have to do is fill out this application and submit it by September 3, and wait to be selected! But be warned! Part of the application is one essay question that's probably the most divisive issue in TV history - "Who do you think was right about The Break—Rachel or Ross? Why?"
